JAMMU, Sept 12: In a remote area in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, terrorists opened fire on a search party, injuring a security jawan, according to officials.
The engagement between the security personnel and the militants began in the Narla village of Rajouri, according to ADGP Mukesh Singh of the Jammu Zone.
Further information is awaited, he said, and the Army and the J&K Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) are already on the scene. According to officials, a security jawan was hurt in the initial exchange of fire, and reinforcements have been dispatched quickly to the scene in order to neutralise the terrorists. Security personnel began a search and cordon operation in the wooded Patrada area Monday night and fired a few shots after spotting two people moving suspiciously, according to the officials. However, they claimed that both suspects were able to flee the scene by taking advantage of the darkness and dense undergrowth. They did so while leaving behind a backpack that the search teams later found to include some clothing and other items.
According to the officials, the cordon and search operation was expanded to surrounding places including Bambel and Narla in an effort to find the eluding terrorists. They also said that when the latest reports were received, shooting was still occurring between the two sides.
