Rs. 27.25 lakh disbursed to fire-affected families in Eidgah: Dy CM Surinder Choudhary

JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Tuesday said that around ₹27.245 lakh has been disbursed among fire-affected families in the Eidgah constituency during the 2024-25 and 2025-26 financial years.

Replying to a calling attention notice by Legislator Mubarik Gul in the Legislative Assembly, the Deputy Chief Minister said a total of 14 fire incidents were reported in the constituency over the last two years.

He added that the District Administration responded promptly with immediate relief and rescue measures to prevent further loss. Relief assistance under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) norms was provided, including:

20 fully damaged houses – ₹1.30 lakh each
15 partially damaged houses – ₹6,500 each
3 fully damaged huts – ₹8,000 each
1 damaged cowshed – ₹3,000
“The recent fire incidents in 2026 are under active consideration, and eligible families will be provided relief on priority as per SDRF norms,” he said.
