New Delhi, June 13, 2024: Reliance Jio Info comm Limited (RJIL) has been awarded the “CDP Climate” Award for the year 2022-23 for its effort in reducing its carbon footprint. International rating agency – Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) has given Reliance Jio an A rating for its efforts. This is the first time since 2019 that Jio has received an A rating. Bharti Airtel, the second giant of the Indian telecom sector, has been given a B rating.
CDP A rating is given only to those companies that show leadership in the field of environment. The company has to disclose its operations and practices to the CDP on issues like climate change, deforestation, and water security. Along with this, companies have to develop and implement strategies to control climate change and reduce water risks.
Jio spokesperson said, “The vision and commitment of Reliance Jio’s leadership have played an important role in reducing the carbon footprint. The A grade awarded to Jio showcases its dedication to sustainability and responsible practices.”
Regarding the rating, CDP said that the companies that have received an A rating are the most aware and transparent in the matter of climate change. Our ratings outline key environmental standards, and this data allows you to conduct a comparative study between companies. Apart from the “CDP Climate” award, Reliance Jio has also received an A rating in “CDP Supplier Engagement”.
