JAMMU: According to officials, the Jammu region’s railway security was examined on Monday in advance of Republic Day, and police were told to stay vigilant to prevent any unfortunate incidents. Mohan Lal Kaith, Senior Superintendent of Police (Railways), Jammu, presided over a high-level meeting where the topic of police operational readiness at the region’s railway assets was discussed, according to the statement. As per the officials, the security protocols implemented for trains, bridges, tunnels, and rail lines were deliberated upon considering the current threat environment and the upcoming Republic Day. “All the officers were asked to remain alert to avoid any untoward incident in view of the Republic Day function on January 26,” according to an official.The SSP (Rails) emphasised the importance of stepping up ground security and being extremely watchful and aware. The emphasis during the discussion was on the need for Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) officers to work together to undertake round-the-clock patrols in order to increase its effectiveness, according to the officials. Kaith went on to say that in order to rule out any acts of sabotage, train stations should make full use of its security apparatus and frisk guests extensively. The SSP instructed all station house officers (SHOs) and officers in command of police posts to personally carry out routine checks, especially at night, to make sure that instructions are carried out in full on the ground, according to the authorities. The SDPOs were instructed to routinely oversee and keep an eye on the performance of the officers and staff, and they noted that any deviation in performance was to be promptly reported to the SSP so that corrective action could be taken against the officials in question. An assessment of the intelligence inputs was also conducted during the conference.
