Rahul Gandhi pitches for tribal rights in Wayanad : “They’re original owners of country”

WAYANAD : Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, advocated for tribal rights on Sunday, claiming that tribal people are the “original owners of the country.” He also stressed indigenous rights, saying that they should be granted access to property and the forest. I have met tribal brothers and sisters all over India while traveling the nation. The term “Adivasis,” which refers to the original landowners, exists.Rahul Gandhi addressed a crowd after dedicating a power facility at a hospital in Wayanad. He explained that this signifies a particular wisdom, a particular understanding of the environment of the earth we live on, a particular relationship with the planet we live on, and that it also implies that they (tribes) are “original owners of this country.” He said, “They ought to have rights over land and forest, and ought to be free to use their imagination.” Rahul Gandhi continued by referring to indigenous people as the original owners and urging them to allow their kids to pursue careers in engineering, medicine, law, or entrepreneurship. “You ought to grant the rights to lands, forests, and forest products as well. The world should be yours to explore. You (Tribals) should not be confined or put into categories, he said. He went on to underline his second notion, which employs the term “Vanvasi,” and said that the word “Vanvasi” is based on a distorted logic. “This is one idea; the term “Vanvasi” is used in another idea. The opposing side says “Vanvasi,” whereas we say “Adivasi.” Additionally, the word “Vanvasi” has a perverse logic behind it. The term “Vanvasi” disavows your claim to be India’s original inhabitants and confines you to the jungle. The meaning of the word “Vanvasi” is that you should never leave the jungle because that is where you belong. And to us, this is simply unacceptable. This word is unacceptable to us,” he declared. At the Dr. Ambedkar District Memorial Cancer Center in Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi opened a power facility and announced that he is pleased to donate Rs. 50 lakh from the MP fund. “I am thrilled to be here to officially open the power plant. This electricity line should benefit the hospital, I hope. I am delighted to donate Rs 50 lakh from the MP fund. For the physicians’ excellent job, this hospital will receive Rs 5 crore, the Congress MP continued.
