BHUBANESWAR: Anurag Thakur, the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, stated on Tuesday in reference to the searches carried out at the Delhi offices of the online portal NewsClick that the country’s investigation agencies are independent and operate in accordance with the law. “I don’t need to defend the raid. Investigative authorities look into any wrongdoing… Nothing in the law states that investigation authorities can’t look into allegations that someone obtained money illegally or engaged in questionable behaviour, according to Thakur. Tuesday morning’s searches by Delhi Police’s Special Cell on 30 locations associated to the online news portal NewsClick as well as the homes of its journalists incited fury among writers.In response to questions at a press conference, he stated, “The investigation agencies are independent and they operate in accordance with the law.” According to informed officials, police have taken the dump data from some NewsClick journalists’ PCs and mobile devices. According to officials with the Delhi Police, the ongoing raids are related to a case that was filed on August 17 under the UAPA and other IPC sections.
