SRINAGAR, Jan 12:According to a senior officer on Friday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police is dedicated to combating the threat of narco-terror and is giving these cases top priority. Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, V K Birdi urged on citizens to aid police in the fight against drug misuse. “J&K Police is dedicated to managing these kinds of situations (narco-terror). Police have followed such cases on priority and acted against drug peddlers under PIT-NDPS Act and NDPS Act,” Birdi told reporters in Baramulla during a visit to a drug de-addiction centre. The Baramulla police’s action against drug dealers was praised by him.The IGP for Kashmir stated, “A lot has been done, but we need to do a lot more and (do it) strictly so that the drug menace is uprooted from society.” Birdi asserted that social intervention is necessary prior to legal action. I also want everyone to let us know if they witness someone engaging in these kinds of actions. To eradicate this threat, society must work together,” he declared.
