New Delhi, Oct 13: In light of the recent Israel-Hamas conflict, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared on Friday that all forms of terrorism are against humanity and that it is time for peace and fraternity so that everyone can advance while walking together. As he urged the globe to advance with a human-centric perspective, he added that conflicts and confrontations everywhere in the world affect everyone and are of no use to anyone. In his remarks to the opening session of the ninth G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit (P20) in this location, he added that we must remove barriers to international confidence.According to Modi, this is the time for peace, brotherhood, and progress as a group. His comments were made against the backdrop of a weekend of heinous attacks by Hamas militants against Israeli towns, which led to new tensions in the area. The prime minister said India has been dealing with cross-border terrorism, which has claimed thousands of innocent lives, since the attack on Parliament House around 20 years ago. He remarked that the world was now aware of the size of the danger posed by terrorism. He declared that all forms of terrorism are against humanity. The lack of agreement on what constitutes terrorism, according to the prime minister, is saddening and is being exploited by the enemies of humanity. He remarked that in order to tackle terrorism, parliaments from all around the world would need to consider how to cooperate. The G20 presidency guaranteed celebrations in India throughout the year, and the moon landing added to the festivities, the prime minister noted. He said that 100 crore people will vote in India’s general elections the next year and urged all P20 delegates to return to see the elections. India has held 17 general elections and more than 300 state assembly elections to yet, but the general elections in 2019—during which his party won for the second consecutive election—were the largest ever held, according to him. According to Modi, the adoption of EVMs has increased the election’s efficiency and transparency, as results are now announced hours after the voting has begun. He also mentioned the results of thousands of years of discussions and deliberations in India and claimed that some of our manuscripts, some of which are over 5,000 years old, also discussed such systems. Speakers of Parliament from G20 members and invited nations are present during the event. After the African Union joined the G20 during the G20 Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi last month, the Pan-African Parliament will participate in the P20 Summit for the first time. The four topics of transformation in people’s lives through open digital platforms, women-led development, advancing SDGs, and sustainable energy transition will be the focus of the thematic sessions of this P20 Summit.
