New Delhi, Feb 14: On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi honoured the 40 members of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) who perished in the 2019 terror attack in Pulwama. “I pay homage to the brave heroes who were martyred in Pulwama,” stated Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a post on X. PM Modi stated in a post on “X” that “their service and sacrifice for our country will always be remembered.” I honour the valiant warriors who lost their lives in Pulwama. In that attack, a suicide bomber destroyed an IED-laden vehicle and killed 40 brave Indian troops and their security convoy. A few days after the assault, on February 26, 2019, the Indian Air Force launched several aerial attacks at the JeM terror camps in Balakot, Pakistan, eliminating a “huge number” of terrorists and demolishing their infrastructure. Pakistan attempted to launch an operation the following day to target Indian military positions in Jammu and Kashmir, but an alert Indian Air Force prevented them from doing so. The air strike was carried out early on February 26. Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman crossed over to PoJK during the dogfight, where his MiG-21 Bison fighter plane was shot down while pursuing Pakistani jets. Pakistan took him into custody. Moreover, India downed a Pakistani fighter plane. S Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, also honoured the valiant soldiers. “Remember the courageous jawans who gave their lives on this day in Pulwama, 2019.” Their bravery inspires us to continue monitoring the border for acts of cross-border terrorism.Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar recalled the valiant sacrifice of the soldiers “Today, we pause to remember and salute the brave CRPF soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the Pulwama Terrorist attack while in service to the nation. We stand united in solidarity with their families and loved ones, offering our deepest condolences and unwavering support. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten or forgiven.”
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also paid his tributes to the fallen soldiers “Today, we honour the memory of the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country in Pulwama. We pay tribute to their families, who have shown unwavering strength & resilience. We remain forever indebted to their service.”
Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi also saluted the braves “Salutes and humble tributes to the brave martyrs of Pulwama terrorist attack. The country will always be indebted to them for their supreme sacrifice dedicated to the defence of India.
