NEW DELHI: More than three days after Chandrayaan-3 made it to the moon, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the mission on Sunday, calling it a “living example of -led development” and praising the efforts of many different sectors that came together to make it possible. The prime minister spoke on the 104th episode of Mann ki Baat, his monthly radio programme, and referred to India’s current G20 presidency as the “people’s presidency” and noted that numerous citizen records had been broken during the time, even as “India made G-20 a more inclusive forum.”The PM specifically referred to the African Union’s request to join the G-20 and the voice of the African people being heard on a significant international platform. The prime minister stated, “India’s Mission Chandrayaan is a live example of woman power,” before thanking ISRO scientists for the momentous Chandrayaan-3 landing on the lunar south pole. The entire endeavour has directly engaged numerous female scientists and engineers. They have undertaken a variety of significant duties, including those of project manager and director for several systems. Even the boundless space is being contested by India’s daughters today. Who can stop a country from developing when the daughters of that nation are so aspirational? In order to make the G20 Leaders’ Summit a huge success, the PM asked for the public’s help. He claimed that the G20 has evolved into a platform through which the world is becoming aware of India’s enormous potential. The PM said, “Wherever the G-20 delegates went, people warmly welcomed them. The government took G20 events to 60 cities rather than keeping them in the national capital. The variety of our nation and our vigorous democracy greatly pleased these delegates. They also realised how many opportunities exist in India. In another significant portion during his presentation, the PM spoke with four athletes who had just returned from the World University Games in China, where India had won a record-breaking 26 medals—more than all other nations had earned since the Games’ inception in 1959. The PM had direct interactions with the winners, including the winners: race walker Priyanka from UP, archer Pragati from UP, athlete Amlan from Assam, and archer Abhidanya from Maharashtra. The athletes discussed their personal struggles and obstacles that they overcome in order to win gold. Pragati talked about how, despite suffering a crippling brain haemorrhage in 2020, she persisted in continuing to live and practise archery because of her strong convictions. The PM mentioned the forthcoming holiday season and urged people to keep in mind the phrase “Vocal for Local.” He also mentioned that the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign has surpassed the milestone set in 2022, when 5 crore people took selfies holding the Tricolour. The PM announced that this figure reached 10 crore in 2023 and urged people to go within their own nation to support the local economy. To illustrate his point, the PM told the tale of Dhanpal, a tour guide from Bengaluru who spent his life learning about the local history and culture before earning a certification in epigraphy. Another discovery made by the PM was about Meghalayan Brian D. Kharpran, who dedicated his life to exploring local caverns and put India on the international cave map by finding 170 tiny and major caves. The PM also spoke about actions done by the Gujarati dairy company Banas Dairy and the Kota, Rajasthan, farmer Amanpreet Singh to protect the environment.
