NEW DELHI: PM Modi praised the Indian women’s compound team on Saturday for capturing the nation’s first-ever gold medal at the World Archery Championships, saying their devotion and hard work produced the exceptional result.
At the World Archery Championships in Berlin on Friday, the Indian women’s compound team—Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Aditi Swami, and Parneet Kaur—made history by defeating Mexico to win the gold medal.
“Indians can be proud as our outstanding compound women’s team wins the country’s first gold medal ever at the World Archery Championship in Berlin. Salutations to our winners, the prime minister stated.
He went on to say, “Their diligence and commitment have produced this outstanding result.”
In a lopsided final, the Indians defeated their top-seeded opponents 235-229. Additionally, the trio started India’s medal count at the competition.
Prime Minister Modi stated in another tweet that improving healthcare facilities are a top goal for his administration.
“It is a matter of great satisfaction that crores of people are getting full benefits from digital facilities,” he added, tagging a tweet by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya about digital health facilities.
