NEW DELHI: A day after Parliament passed the women’s reservation bill, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was given a warm welcome at the BJP headquarters here on Friday. At the party headquarters where he was welcomed, several women, including recipients of various government programmes, were present. A group of recipients garlanded and blessed Modi as he bent before them. J P Nadda, the head of the BJP, female Union ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, and Smriti Irani, as well as other party officials, were there. Nadda hailed Modi’s vision and drive for the accomplishment, calling the approval of the measure historic. The prime minister has made various efforts to support women’s empowerment.
