JAMMU:Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner for Jammu, examined today's plans for the UT-level Republic Day Celebration at MA Stadium. In addition to senior officers of the Police, Army, CRPF, BSF, SSB, Air Force, Jal Shakti, JPDCL, PWD, JMC, Health Services, Information, Education, Cultural Academy, Youth Services and Sports, Hospitality and Protocol, and other concerned departments, there were also Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, SSP Jammu, SSP Security Jammu, and SSP Traffic.The Division Committee assessed the plans that each department needed to complete. He gave the HoDs instructions to make all necessary preparations for whitewashing, parking, sanitization, decoration, security, and easy public access to the venue following appropriate frisking. To ensure that the Republic Day Parade of 2024 is meticulously planned, each department head was asked to designate nodal officers. It was also emphasised to set up buses to transport the general public to the stadium and to widely publicise parking spots and public entrance points. After a review of the cultural events scheduled for the National Event, a focus on honouring regional diversity, cultural heritage, and patriotic ethos was sought.Additionally, instructions were given for establishing a joint control room to guarantee smooth planning and a hassle-free Republic Day 2024 celebration. LG directs officials for effective, efficient and speedy action on complaints and concerns of citizens

JAMMU: Using video conferencing, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha engaged with the public at the Civil Secretariat's "LG's Mulaqaat" Live Public Grievance Hearing programme. After evaluating the complaints filed on JKIGRAMS, the Lieutenant Governor instructed the officials to respond to citizen complaints and concerns in a timely, effective, and efficient manner. "It is my solemn pledge to ensure sensitive and caring government machinery at all levels to enhance overall well-being of common man," said the Lieutenant Governor.According to him, the administration's emphasis on prompt service delivery and a transparent, accountable system for handling complaints will equip today's governance for tomorrow's challenges. "We are ensuring citizens are heard and poorest of the poor enjoy the fruits of growth and get access to a life of dignity," the Lieutenant Governor stated. The Lt Governor ordered the School Education Department to take proactive steps for the rationalisation of teachers in schools and submit a report within 15 days in response to the complaint of Bashir Ahmed, a resident of Parnote B, Ramban, about the lack of teaching staff in a primary school in his village. Kokernag, Anantnag resident Rubaya Akhter thanked the Lieutenant Governor-led UT administration for promptly resolving her grievance and issuing an Other Backward Class certificate in her favour. 55 Foreign Terrorists Among 76 Neutralised In J&K In 2023: DGP

Jammu, Dec 30: Director General of Police R R Swain said on Saturday that 76 terrorists, including 55 foreigners, were neutralised in Jammu and Kashmir this year under the Public Safety Act. According to Swain, 201 overground employees were booked and 291 more terrorist associates were taken into custody. According to Swain, there are currently only 31 local terrorists in the Union Territory, which is a record low. According to him, there were 14 civilian deaths at the hands of terrorists in 2023; incidents linked to terror decreased by 63% from the previous year; there was also a decrease in terrorist recruitment, with fewer calls for strikes and acts of stone-throwing.According to Swain, four police officers—including a DSP and an inspector—have died in terror attacks. In Jammu and Kashmir, according to the police chief, 89 terrorist modules were dismantled, 18 terrorist hideouts were discovered, 99 properties valued at over Rs 170 crore—including buildings, land, orchards, and commercial establishments—were attached, and 68 bank accounts were frozen. He went on to say that more than 8,000 phoney social media profiles endorsing terrorism and separatism had been found and shut down. Drugs Worth Crores Seized In Baramulla Destroyed

SRINAGAR, Dec 30: On Saturday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police demolished a significant amount of illicit material valued at crores of rupees that had been found in the Baramulla district of North Kashmir. Under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla Amod Nagpure, the District Level Drug Disposal Committee Baramulla carried out the exercise. According to a police spokesman, the illegal substances that were taken from 27 cases at Police Station Uri, Boniyar, Pattan, Kreeri, Kunzer, and Tangmarg in the Baramulla district were destroyed at Pulwama.He stated that the items found in the confiscation weighed crores and included 6.303 kg of heroin, 63.413 kg of poppy straw, 207 kg of ganja, 652 kg of cannabis, 600 kg of cannabis powder, 3.950 kg of bang bosa, 953 kg of charas, 1.120 kg of charas powder, and 127 kg of fukki. In the presence of a committee that was appointed and led by the Deputy SP DAR Baramulla, the DySP ANTF Kashmir, the DySP CID CI Pulwama, the Executive Magistrate Kunzer, the Reader to the SSP Baramulla, the Field Inspector of the Pollution Control Board, and other district police officers, the seized drugs were destroyed at the Kashmir Health Care System, Lassipora Pulwama.It is important to note that Baramulla Police destroyed 32 cases of illegal substances that were seized from various police stations in the district in July 2023. Jammu Crime Branch chargesheets Nagpur-based man for Rs 1.70-cr fraud

JAMMU: According to an official, the Crime Branch of the Jammu and Kashmir Police filed a chargesheet on Saturday against a Maharashtra resident for allegedly defrauding a businessman of Rs 1.70 crore in 2019 under the guise of supplying food grains. According to an agency spokesman, the Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch, Jammu, filed a 504-page chargesheet against accused Parvin Kumar Ninawe, a Nagpur, Maharashtra resident, in this court for allegedly defrauding Suresh Gupta, the owner of the Shona Trust Corporation. Gupta is a company that sells, buys, and supplies food grains and related products to the general public and government.In his complaint to the Jammu Crime Branch, Gupta claimed that although he had paid the accused Rs 3.11 crore on occasion, the accused had only given him goods valued at Rs 1.41 crore. The remaining sum was not reimbursed, nor had the accused supplied any goods, according to the spokesman. He claimed that the accused had also given the complainant a cheque for Rs 60 lakh, but the bank had refused to accept it. Following the receipt of the complaint, an initial investigation was carried out, and the spokesman stated that the claims made were found to be prima facie supported, resulting in the formal case being filed under the applicable sections. He claimed that Ninawe, who is out on bail, is guilty of the offences listed under Indian Penal Code section 420, which deals with cheating. Police Announces Rs 5 Lac Reward For Identifying Retired SSP Killers

SRINAGAR, Dec 30: A five-lakh rupee reward has been offered by J&K Police for any information leading to the identification of the killers of a retired senior superintendent of police who was shot and killed in north Kashmir a few days ago. In Gantmulla village on the Baramulla Uri highway, retired SSP Muhammad Shafi Mir was shot and killed on December 24 inside a mosque by an unidentified gunman while he was leading the call to prayer. The official sources claimed that the 72-year-old retired officer was killed by a 12-bore gun, a weapon that isn't typically used by the militants, despite the police classifying it as a terror incident. Posters advertising the reward were affixed to various locations within Gantmulla and its surrounding areas by the Police. "This is to notify everyone that the Police are offering a reward of Rs 5 lakhs to anyone who shares any information or leads regarding the killing of Mohammad Shafi Mir on December 24 morning by an unidentified individual." the poster states. The police promised to keep the identity of the person providing the information a secret. Following the murder, police have questioned a number of people, including some of the retired officer's relatives. During the course of the case investigation, police have also taken approximately twenty 12-bore rifles from the local villagers.According to sources, these rifles have been sent for forensic analysis. Police are investigating this case from several angles. 2012 saw Mir retire, and she was living in the village with no security.
