JKP committed to safety of people, says DGP Swain

JAMMU: Under the direction of Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have reiterated their dedication to public safety. At the Gulshan Ground in Jammu, DGP Swain gave the opening speech at a road safety awareness rally. He emphasised the joint efforts of the Transport Department, J&K Police, Jammu Three Sixty, and the District Administration to promote road safety. Speaking to attendees, police officers, and staff, DGP Swain praised the organisers for their effort, which immediately improves road user safety, particularly for drivers. He was also grateful to the public for their support of these projects, which served the community's interests more broadly. The top police officer emphasised the tragic circumstances in which people are left disabled and the preventable deaths that occur in traffic accidents. He emphasised that in order to solve this problem, several parties must work together. DGP Swain pledged sustained efforts, saying the J&K Police will examine accident causes in conjunction with other stakeholders, including the license-issuing body. He stated, "Regulatory changes will be implemented where necessary to enhance road safety," and he was certain that things would get better with honesty and good intentions. Successful diversion of Chenab River achieved at Ratle HE Project

KISHTWAR: With the Chenab River's diversion through the Diversion Tunnels at Drabshalla, the 850 MW Ratle HE Project in Jammu and Kashmir has reached a significant milestone. The river diversion will make it possible to isolate the dam region at the riverbed and begin the crucial task of digging and building the dam. In order to support the project's efforts to meet its May 2026 projected commissioning date, it will expedite project construction activities and help minimise delays. R K Vishnoi, the Chief Medical Director of NHPC, officially opened the River Diversion event. H Rajesh Prasad, the Principal Secretary (PDD); I D Dayal, the Chairman of RHPCL; Pankaj Mangotra, the MD of JKSPDC; NHPC Directors; A K Nauriyal, the CEO of RHPCL; and other dignitaries from NHPC and GoJK were present. Ratle Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited (RHPCL), a joint venture between NHPC Limited and GoJK with a 51:49 percent stake, is responsible for carrying out the Ratle Project. The 850 MW Ratle HE project is located in the Kishtwar District on the Chenab River. Enforcement team Targets Illegal mining Activities in Samba District

SAMBA: Under DC Abhishek Sharma's direction, the Geology and Mining Department Samba launched a major effort to stop illicit mining activities in the area. Six dumpers and four tractor-trollies were seized as a result of the day-long campaign; they are currently being held by the police while the penalties are being realised. A number of other cars were also immediately fined for various infractions found during the operation. Penalty notifications totaling almost Rs 70 lakh have been sent in the last few days to a large number of stone crushers for various geology and mining code infractions.By enforcing compliance and discouraging any illicit mining, transportation, or stockpiling of minerals, these strict rules hope to protect and preserve our natural ecosystem. The goal of the enforcement actions is to uphold the regulations pertaining to mining and geology, guarantee sustainable operations, and protect the Samba District's natural equilibrium. The public has been strongly encouraged to only purchase minerals from authorised suppliers and to make sure that the purchase is accompanied with the appropriate e-challans. The lawful acquisition of minerals through legitimate e-challans makes a substantial contribution by citizens towards the conservation of natural resources and the safeguarding of public funds. 4 lakh penalty recovered from vehicles involved in illegal mining

KATHUA: Today, a group from the Geology and Mining department, under the direction of District Mineral Officer (DMO) Rajinder Singh Rana, began taking legal action against one JCB and fourteen vehicles involved in illicit mining and transportation. In the Mager Khad areas, a JCB machine was confiscated and fined for excavating more than 1000 MT of river bed material. Two dumpers were seized for moving minerals without e-challans, while a Mega Engineering Company tipper was detained in Hatli for lifting clay without the proper paperwork. Similarly, according to legal documents presented by the drivers of the trucks, 13 Punjab-based trucks were fined at the toll post in Lakhanpur for loading crushed aggregate and screened sand beyond the carrying capacity. The fine was collected from the trucks immediately.Tipper drivers were instructed not to engage in the unlawful or unapproved transportation of minerals during the Lakhanpur checkpoint. Instead, they were to load minerals strictly in accordance with the valid e-challans and GST bills. According to the DMO, mining guards have been assigned to all mining sites and hotspots where mining operations are conducted. He further mentioned that a permanent naka has been established in Lakhanpur to monitor dumpers heading into Punjab.
