Adani Group ‘fleecing’ people to the tune of Rs 12,000 cr : Rahul
NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, charged the Adani Group on Wednesday with overbilling for coal imports and defrauding consumers out of Rs 12,000 crore in energy tariffs, citing a media article. Gandhi criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a press conference at the AICC headquarters, urging him to preserve his credibility and come clean about the Adani problem by launching an investigation. Why is the prime minister being silent?By launching an investigation and requesting that the prime minister come clean, I am simply assisting him and defending his integrity, Gandhi claimed. At the press conference, the former head of the Congress exhibited a recent Financial Times investigation that said the Adani Group appeared to have imported billions of rupees' worth of coal at prices well over market value. According to Gandhi, Adani overcharged for coal imports and stole Rs 12,000 crore from "people's pockets." According to Gandhi, who cited the article, Adani purchased coal in Indonesia, and when it arrived in India, the cost had doubled. Gandhi asserted that the overcharging of coal was having an effect on the nation's electricity rates and increasing consumer electricity costs.Additionally, he claimed that this incident would have brought down any administration in the world, but India was taking no action. "Adani has full protection of the government, everyone know which power is behind him," he stated. The opposition party has also questioned the billionaire Gautam Adani's Group's financial affairs after US research company Hindenburg identified "irregularities" and accused it of manipulating stock prices. The Adani Group asserted there had been no wrongdoing on its behalf and refuted every accusation made in the Hindenburg report. The gang didn't respond right away to the recent accusations.
