RBI clarifies that last date for exchanging Rs 2,000 notes is tomorrow

NEW DELHI: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) made it clear on Friday that the Rs 2,000 denomination currency will lose all of its value after Saturday and become simply another piece of paper if it is not exchanged in a bank. In order to complete the exercise on schedule and provide the public enough time, the RBI had already set September 30, 2023, as the deadline. Since the central bank decided to stop issuing the high-value note in May, almost 93% of the Rs 2,000 banknotes have been returned to the banking system, according to information released by the RBI earlier in the month.The public was instructed to swap or deposit their Rs. 2,000 notes at local RBI branches and bank branches. Any bank branch allowed non-account holders to exchange up to 20,000 rupees worth of Rs 2000 notes at once. The Rs 2000 denomination banknotes were taken out of circulation on May 19 by the RBI, but they were still declared to be legal tender. However, the RBI had instructed banks to cease issuing these currencies right now. The introduction of the Rs 2000 denomination banknote in November 2016 served largely to quickly address the economy's need for money following the loss of the legal tender status of all Rs 500 and Rs 1000 banknotes in use at the time.After sufficient supplies of notes in other denominations became available, the goal of launching Rs 2000 banknotes was achieved. The printing of Rs 2000 banknotes was thus discontinued in 2018–19.   [caption id="attachment_3360" align="alignnone" width="300"] RBI clarifies that last date for exchanging Rs 2,000 notes is tomorrow[/caption]

IAF To Buy 156 More ‘Prachand’ Light Combat Choppers For Deployment Along Pak & China Border

New Delhi, Sept 29:The Indian Air Force is going to place orders for 156 more Prachand Light Combat Helicopters with HAL, which would be deployed at both the China and Pakistan front by the IAF and the Indian Army. This could be considered one of the biggest pushes for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' in the defence sector. In the past 15 months, the two agencies have already added 15 of these helicopters to their fleet after testing them in some of the world's worst weather and terrain. Senior defence officials stated that the Indian Air Force, as the leading force, has submitted a request to the government for the purchase of 156 additional Prachand helicopters as a joint acquisition case, which is likely to be granted soon. Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, the head of the Indian Air Force, recently made an announcement from abroad on the force's intention to purchase approximately 100 additional Light Combat Aircraft Mark 1A to promote indigenization. In terms of value, the two projects add up to more than Rs 1.5 lakh crore. The Indian Air Force would receive 66 of the 156 helicopters, and the Indian Army would obtain the remaining 90.The Prachand has undergone extensive test flights by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), in accordance with the Indian Air Force's demand that it be a weapon system entirely designed, developed, and manufactured in India. The assault helicopter was created to meet the needs of the Indian armed forces and can operate in both high-altitude and desert areas. The Prachand attack helicopter is the only one in the world that can land and take off at an altitude of 5,000 metres (16,400 feet), making it perfect for use in high-altitude regions like Eastern Ladakh and the Siachen Glacier.It can also damage the enemy's air defence activities and fire a variety of air-to-ground and air-to-air missiles. Additionally, it will be outfitted with more modern Dhruvastra air-to-ground missiles, which can destroy enemy hardened bunkers in both high altitude and other terrain. A sizable number of these helicopters are also being purchased by the IAF in order to keep the equipment prepared for export requirements and sales to friendly foreign nations.To meet all military requirements, more than 300 of these helicopters are anticipated to be in service. Additionally, it is anticipated that these helicopters will quickly find purchasers on the export markets. “World has taken note of our political and military resolve”: Army Chief

NEW DELHI: General Manoj Pande, the head of the Indian Army, said on Friday that India's position on the continuing crisis between Russia and Ukraine is an excellent illustration of how the country has acted firmly and unambiguously in support of legitimate national interests. The Indian Army Chief stated that our foreign policy and diplomacy are currently playing a critical role in his remarks to the 118th annual session of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) at Vigyan Bhawan in this city. In addition, China's continued propensity to project influence outside of its region and pose a threat to rule-based institutions is indicative of its belligerence, the Army chief stated. "The world has taken notice of our political and military resolve of a rising India because of the resolute and robust way in which we stood up to our northern opponent during the events of April-May 2020. Many countries now also seem prepared to confront our Northern opponent on a variety of problems, he continued. He continued by saying that our efforts are being made towards Aatma Nirbhar Bharat. Trials and planning for research and development are ongoing. The Agnipath programme, according to the Army chief, is a ground-breaking project, and in four years, Agniveers will be empowered. Selected candidates would be enrolled in the Agnipath programme as Agniveers for a four-year period. Selected candidates would be enrolled in the Agnipath programme as Agniveers for a four-year period. Shah claimed that the average collection for 2023–2024 was Rs 1.69 lakh crore and that the GST collection in April was Rs 1.87 lakh crore.
