Need To Enhance Capabilities In View Of Dynamic Strategic Environment: IAF Chief

Prayagraj, Oct 8: In light of the current "complex" and "dynamic" strategic environment, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari urged his force on Sunday to improve its overall capabilities, create a flexible attitude, and polish its overall strategy in order to "prosecute" potential future wars. The Chief of Air Staff stated that the current geopolitical environment has given the force an opportunity to lessen reliance on imports by creating indigenous capabilities in a speech to airmen on the occasion of Air Force Day. In addition, Air Chief Marshal Chaudhari emphasised the importance of comprehending the subtleties of developing air force, "setting the pace to preserve peace and, if and when necessary, to fight and win wars."According to him, the world is changing quickly and the IAF must rise to all new challenges. He claimed that in this complicated and dynamic strategic environment, "refining our strategy, building robust all-around capabilities and, more importantly, developing a flexible mind-set to prosecute future wars will prove decisive" would be beneficial. "We must recognise the significance of the space domain and continue developing our space capabilities in our quest to become an air and space force," the IAF Chief stated.Additionally, Air Chief Marshal Chaudhari urged his troops to uphold a culture of order and integrity and to be constantly vigilant against new dangers. India’s power consumption rise nearly 8 pc to 847 billion units in first half of FY24

NEW DELHI: In the first half of current fiscal year, from April to September, India's electricity consumption increased by about 8% to approximately 847 billion units (BU), indicating an uptick in economic activity. According to the official figures, from April to September 2023, electricity consumption increased from 786 BU to around 847 BU. The extensive unseasonal rain in April, May, and June, according to industry analysts, may have had an impact on the nation's electricity consumption, which may have increased by double digits. They claimed that the exceptionally high humidity levels, which led to an increase in the use of cooling appliances such fans, coolers, and air conditioners, caused a significant rebound in both power demand and consumption starting in August. Additionally, they claimed that the increase in power use in August and September was primarily the result of the humid weather, which also boosted business activity ahead of the holiday season. The data also reveals that during April through September 2023, peak power demand reached a new high of 241 GW, up from 215.88 GW in the first half of fiscal 2022–2023.The country's electricity demand was predicted by the power ministry to reach 229 GW in the summer. Due to unseasonal rain, the demand did not reach the anticipated…
