1 dead, 3 injured in road accident in Doda

DODA: Officials said today that a road accident in Bulandpur village, Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir, had left one person dead and three injured. According to an official, a car with the licence plate JK06B 6028 was involved in an accident close to Khasal while travelling to Charota Bulandpur. He claimed that after being pulled from the automobile in serious condition, the four occupants were sent to a nearby Assar medical facility, where one of them was pronounced dead. Maneel Kumar, son of Choor Singh of Nagvas Assar, was identified as the deceased. Santa Kumar, son of Prem Singh (23), Sandesh Kumar, son of Nek Raj of Nagvaash Thandapani (28), and Mukesh Kumar, son of Chali Singh (22), all of Sanga Charota, were identified as the injured individuals. Man from Jammu drowns in Goa lake, his brother missing

PANAJI: On Wednesday, a person from Jammu and Kashmir drowned in a lake near Arambol in North Goa; his brother vanished under the body of water, and search operations are still in progress, according to the police. The event happened early on Wednesday morning while the siblings were having fun on their holiday in the seaside state, according to them. Ashish Kumar Mishra will replace Rakesh Balwal as Srinagar police chief.

SRINAGAR : Rakesh Balwal, who was returned to his parent cadre, was replaced as SSP Srinagar on Wednesday by Ashish Kumar Mishra (IPS). "In pursuance of the approval of Competent Authority for pre-mature repatriation of Shri Rakesh Balwal, IPS (MA:2012) from AGMUT Cadre, to his parent cadre i.e. Manipur cadre, the Officer is relieved from the Union territory of Jammu & Kashmir, to enable him to join his parent cadre," stated an official order. "In light of the aforementioned, the following postings and transfers are now ordered with immediate effect in the interest of administration: Senior Superintendent of Police, Anantnag, Shri Ashish Kumar Mishra, IPS (AGMUT:13), is being assigned as Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar. Vice to Shri Ashish Kumar Mishra, IPS, Shri G. V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, IPS (AGMUT:14), AIG (CIV) Police Headquarters, is transferred and assigned as Senior Superintendent of Police, Anantnag."The government also issued an order relieving Imtiaz Ismail Parray of his duties as DIV in Sashastra Seema Bal. Adm commences preparations for celebrating Oct 31 as ‘UT Foundation Day’

SRINAGAR: A high-level conference of the civil and police administration was called by Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta today to assess the status of the arrangements for marking October 31 as "UT Foundation Day" in this city. The Chief Secretary asked the group of Administrative Secretaries and senior police officers present at the meeting what they thought should be done to commemorate this day. He put a strong emphasis on the Departments to get ready to highlight all the good things that have happened throughout the last four years since J&K became a part of UT.Dr. Mehta noted that the administration has carried out a number of extensive social programmes and reforms over the years, allowing J&K to significantly improve its services and infrastructure. He said that since people are the ones who would ultimately benefit, they should include regular people and PRI representatives in these festivities. According to him, there have been significant developments in the infrastructure, social, economic, and other spheres that require communication.He requested that they urge members of the public to share footage of any changes they have seen during this time, and that they give prizes to those who provide insightful criticism. He stated that in order to make appropriate actions in the future, people's opinions about the shift should be valued and documented. Dr. Mehta requested that the IT Department hold contests for the general public to enter on the "MyGov" portal. Additionally, he gave the Culture Department instructions to host cultural events around the University of Utah on this special day, allowing everyone to showcase their artistic abilities. He asked the Department of Education to participate in these festivities by including the kids who are hopeful about their future well-being. In addition to introducing IT projects like e-Office, online services, BEAMS, PaySys, and others to ensure transparent, responsive, and accountable government here, he added that there have also been significant infrastructure upgrades. According to him, the number of projects finished in the District Sector last year increased dramatically from roughly 1500 to approximately 43000. He mentioned that in the four years since becoming the UT, J&K had completed around two lakh projects. Dr. Mehta also emphasised the importance of emphasising the openness with which hiring decisions have been handled in recent years.By all means, he said, the UT has done a far superior job of administering its citizens' affairs without prejudice or corruption. He suggested that each Department create a written account of its accomplishments as well as a film showcasing them. He requested that they make all of the advancements, modifications, and reforms that have occurred since 2019 available to the public. JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner for Jammu and Kashmir, Ramesh Kumar, officially opened the J&K UT contingent for the 37th National Games, which will take place in Goa from October 26, 2023, to November 9, 2023. 189 athletes and coaches from Jammu and Kashmir will compete in 18 different sports. The Divisional Commissioner stated that the National Games are a key platform for athletes to demonstrate their ability for competitions throughout the world and are one of the most prominent and important events on our national sports calendar. BARAMULLA On Wednesday, Dilbag Singh, the Director General of Police, announced that more steps are being made to bring about enduring and everlasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir. "The situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved," he remarked, addressing the passing-out ceremony of 510 new recruits of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Sheeri area of the Baramulla district. We are launching fresh efforts to enhance the state of affairs and bring about a stable, long-lasting peace in this place." According to the DGP, the police have been implementing Operation Capacity Building (OCB) in the past several months, which aims to improve the facilities and equipment at police stations in order to strengthen the battle against militancy. "Under the OCB, 21 police stations in areas which were once hugely impacted by militancy have been strengthened and provided with additional resources," Singh stated. "Similarly, 22 more police stations will be provided latest and better equipment to root out remaining terrorism," he stated. Govt hikes wheat MSP by Rs 150 per quintal to Rs 2,275 for 2024-25

NEW DELHI: The government on Wednesday announced a rise in the minimum support price (MSP) of wheat by Rs 150 to Rs 2,275 per quintal for the 2024–25 marketing season, ahead of assembly elections in important wheat-growing regions. Since taking office in 2014, the administration led by Narendra Modi has increased salaries at the greatest rate. Prime Minister Modi presided over the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) meeting when a decision in this regard was made. The marketing-share price (MSP) for wheat for the 2023–24 marketing season (April–March) is currently Rs 2,125 per quintal.Anurag Thakur, the minister of I&B, briefed the media that the CCEA had recommended raising the minimum support price (MSP) for all mandatory rabi crops for the 2024–25 marketing season. "We have raised the MSP of six rabi crops in accordance with the CACP's suggestion. The MSP for wheat has been raised by Rs 150 per quintal, he declared. He also stated that the support price of wheat has been raised from Rs 2,125 per quintal in 2023–24 to Rs 2,275 per quintal for the 2024–25 marketing season. The primary crop grown during the winter months is wheat, which is sown in October and harvested in April. The minimum support price, or MSP, is guaranteed to safeguard farmers' interests. Below this price, government procurement agencies will not buy grain. Cabinet approves Rs 20,773.7 cr for transmission line to evacuate power from Ladakh

NEW DELHI: In order to build a transmission line for the purpose of evacuating power from a 13 GW renewable energy project in Ladakh, the Union Cabinet approved the project on Wednesday for Rs 20,773.7 crore. In his Independence Day speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced plans to establish a 7.5 GW solar park in Ladakh. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) created a plan to install a 12 GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and a 13 GW Renewable Energy (RE) generation capacity in Pang, Ladakh, following a thorough field survey. According to an official announcement, building an interstate transmission system will be required in order to evacuate this enormous amount of power.It further stated that the Green Energy Corridor (GEC) Phase-II - Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) for 13 GW Renewable Energy Project in Ladakh has been approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA). The transmission line that will be used to evacuate this power will travel across Punjab and Himachal Pradesh before arriving at Kaithal, Haryana, and connecting to the national grid there. The project is expected to be operational by the 2029–2030 fiscal year, with a projected cost of Rs 20,773.70 crore, including 40 percent funding from the national government (Rs 8,309.48 crore). Army Jawan Succumbs To Bullet Injury, Last Rites Held In Reasi

JAMMU, Oct 18: In the Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir, an army jawan deployed near the Line of Control died from bullet wounds under unclear circumstances. His final ceremonies were held in the Reasi district on Wednesday with full military honours. According to officials, 22-year-old Ridham Sharma was discovered injured by a gunshot while performing normal duty in the forward regions of the Balakote belt. On Tuesday, they stated, he passed away at the medical centre from his wounds.The body was examined post-mortem and turned over to the police. Sharma lived in the Reasi district's Serwad hamlet. The police have opened an investigation into the situation and filed a case. When the jawan's body was returned home for the final ceremonies, hundreds of people gathered in the village and chanted slogans honouring him. Mughal road reopens after 2 day closure

POONCH: The Mughal Road, which links the twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri with the Shopian district in Kashmir Valley, reopened for traffic on Wednesday after being blocked for two days due to snowfall.
