SC Reserves Verdict On Pleas Challenging Validity Of Electoral Bonds Scheme

NEW DELHI, Nov 2: Regarding a number of petitions contesting the legality of the electoral bonds programme for financing political parties, the Supreme Court postponed making a decision on Thursday. On October 31, arguments on four petitions, including those submitted by Congressman Jaya Thakur, the Communist Party of India (Marxist), and the non-governmental Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), were heard by a five-judge constitution bench that included Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices Sanjiv Khanna, B R Gavai, J B Pardiwala, and Manoj Misra.As part of initiatives to increase political finance transparency, the government announced the programme on January 2, 2018, and it was positioned as an alternative to financial contributions to political parties. Any Indian individual or organisation incorporated or founded in India may purchase electoral bonds in accordance with the scheme's terms. Election bonds may be purchased individually or in combination with other people. Electoral bonds can only be obtained by political parties that are registered under Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, and that have garnered at least 1% of the votes cast in the most recent election for the Lok Sabha or a state legislative Assembly.The announcement states that a political party that qualifies may only cash electoral bonds through an account with a bank that has been licenced. In April 2019, the Supreme Court rejected the Centre's request to halt the electoral bonds scheme and declared that it would give the pleas a thorough hearing because the Election Commission and the Centre had brought up "weighty issues" that had a "tremendous bearing on the sanctity of the electoral process in the country." KARNAL (Haryana), Nov 2: On Thursday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah attacked the Congress, branding it a party of "cut, commission, and corruption." He also denounced the opposition INDIA alliance, claiming that 27 parties have united to further their own agendas. He contrasted this with the BJP's efforts to promote the wellbeing of the populace.Speaking at the "Antyodaya Sammelan" event hosted by the Haryana government here, Shah commended the Manohar Lal Khattar administration for implementing the state's overall development. In the last nine years, he claimed, the BJP Government in Haryana has eradicated corruption and nepotism and strengthened law and order. The Union Minister urged people to support the BJP in the next general elections by enumerating the many programmes and initiatives of the Narendra Modi administration. Shah introduced five programmes for the "Antyodaya" families during the ceremony, where Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and other guests were present."I want to ask (Bhupinder) Hooda ji whether the development which took place in the last nine years (under BJP) is visible or if (your) eyes are still shut," he said, slamming Bhupinder Hooda, the leader of the Haryana Congress. Shah claimed that the Congress is incapable of advancing both the nation and Haryana. The Congress is a crooked, cut-and-commission party. The Union home minister said, "The party's hand (election symbol) is not with the people of Haryana." Shah referred to the opposition bloc as a "ghamandiya (arrogant)" alliance and claimed that all 27 members were "'parivarvadis' (dynasts)"."All 27 of the clothing items are 'parivarvadis'. Snowfall ,Light rain over higher reaches of J&K during next 24 hours: MeT

SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar forecasted light rain or snowfall over certain higher regions of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday for the upcoming day. According to the MeT office, Thursday's weather will mostly be clear to partly cloudy, with the chance of light rain or snowfall tonight over a few isolated higher peaks. "November 3-6 will see mostly dry weather, while November 7-8 will see fair to generally cloudy skies with a chance of light snowfall over isolated higher reaches," the report stated. The MeT office stated that November 9–10 will be mostly cloudy with light rain or snowfall over a few higher levels, but elsewhere there won't be any noteworthy weather until November 10.Late last night, Razdan Top in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district saw new, light snowfall, while the lower parts had light showers of rain, according to sources. According to Faizan Arif, a weather specialist from Kashmir, light rain or snow is possible in certain areas today due to a minor Western disturbance, particularly in certain regions of north Kashmir. "In general, there won't be any noteworthy weather events over the next ten days," he stated. According to him, the Kashmir plains should see minimum temperatures of 2 to 5°C and maximum temperatures of 20 to 22°C. The MeT office reported that the minimum temperature on Thursday was 6.7°C in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir; other locations with lower temperatures included Qazigund (4.0°C), Pahalgam (2.8°C), Kupwara (8.5°C), Kokernag (6.5°C), and Gulmarg (3.9°C). AI presents serious threats in addition to these opportunities, particularly in those areas of daily life. In light of this, we applaud relevant international efforts to investigate and discuss the possible effects of AI systems in fora already in place as well as other pertinent initiatives. Speaking at the "AI Safety Summit 2023," Chandrasehar stated that India has consistently emphasised the importance of global partnerships and dialogues, particularly in this year where "technology is throwing up the most exiting opportunities ever in the history of mankind." The minister highlighted that AI is "the next big opportunity" in India's eyes. "We are extremely clear in our minds on mitigation on what AI and indeed any emerging technology can and will represent, a prism of openness, safety, trust and accountability," he stated. The Union Minister pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had long maintained that a coalition of nations, as opposed to one or two, should lead the future of technology, whether it be in terms of partnerships, innovations, or the institutional framework governing technology and innovations for the benefit of all people. This is because the institutional framework is far more sustainable. SRINAGAR, Nov 2: According to sources, Jammu and Kashmir police on Thursday impounded a residential home in the Awantipora neighbourhood in the Pulwama district of south Kashmir for providing shelter to terrorists. According to an official, FIR No. 58/2020 was filed against Azad Ahmad Teli of Beighpora Awantipora for willingly providing shelter to terrorists. He said that the property had been seized in accordance with section 33 of the UAPA Act, as per the NIA Court Pulwama's directives. About 31 lakh hectares of the state's land are used for paddy production, according to the state's action plan to reduce the burning of paddy straw. Tata Motors said in a statement that the company has delivered the first batch of Ultra EV air-conditioned electric buses to Srinagar Smart City Ltd through TML Smart City Mobility Solutions (J&K) Pvt Ltd, a group entity.
