Rs 50,000 cr FDI in food processing sector in last 9 yrs: Modi

NEW DELHI: On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that over the previous nine years, foreign direct investment (FDI) up to Rs 50,000 crore has been drawn to India's food processing industry, which has become a "sunrise" industry. At Bharat Mandapam in the nation's capital, Modi was giving a speech at the second World Food India event. The final day of the three-day event is November 5. "The food processing industry has received FDI of Rs 50,000 crore over the past nine years. It is the outcome of the government's pro-farmer and pro-industry policies, according to Modi. According to him, the capacity for processing food at home has grown dramatically over the past nine years, and exports of processed food have climbed by 150%.The prime minister launched a "food street" as part of "World Food India 2023" and gave seed cash support to more than a lakh Self Help Groups (SHGs). The celebration of 2023 as the International Year of Millets intends to highlight India as the world's food basket. The international event was not able to be organised in the following years because of the COVID-19 epidemic, which took place during the first edition in 2017. "Seed Capital Assistance" will assist SHGs in increasing their marketable prices through higher-quality manufacturing and better packaging. Union Minister of Food Processing Industries Pashupati Kumar Paras encouraged international businesses to make investments in India in this field during his speech.According to Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, the Modi administration has strengthened the nation's food processing industry and guaranteed the nation's food security. Delhi wakes up to dense haze as air quality turns ‘severe’ at many locations

NEW DELHI: According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the air quality in a number of Delhi neighbourhoods fell into the "severe" category on Friday morning, with Mundka having the highest Air Quality Index (498). The national capital's skyline was shrouded in a thick cloud as the air quality declined. The AQI was reported at 438 in the Lodhi Road area, 491 in Jahangirpuri, 486 in the RK Puram region, and 473 in IGI Airport (T3), according to the CPCB. The Air Quality Index (AQI) is a technique for effectively and understandably communicating to the public the state of the air quality. It reduces complex data on the quality of the air caused by different pollutants to a single number (the index value), colour, and nomenclature.When the AQI is between 0 and 100, it is considered good; when it is between 100 and 200, it is considered moderate; when it is between 200 and 300, it is considered poor; when it is between 300 and 400, it is said to be very poor; and when it is between 400 and 500 or more, it is said to be severe; this has an influence on both healthy people and those who already have disorders. Additionally, the AQI dropped to the "severe" category at several different Noida locales, with Sectors 62, 1 and 116 recording 483, 413 and 415, respectively. On Thursday, the government of Delhi issued an order closing all public and private elementary schools for the next two days. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) activated the third phase of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) on Thursday due to the deteriorating quality of the air. When the AQI falls between 401 and 450 points and reaches Severe, the GRAP moves into Stage III. The state government may impose severe limitations on BS III petrol and BS IV diesel four-wheelers in specific locations as part of its reaction to combat pollution. It may also stop in-person instruction for students in primary grades up to Class 5. Since then, primary school lessons have been suspended by the Delhi government.The subcommittee examined the regional air quality scenario in addition to the IMD and IITM projections for the weather and air quality index. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) released an official statement stating that the Delhi government has prohibited construction work throughout the National Capital Region (NCR). The announcement went on to say that exceptions had been granted for projects pertaining to interstate bus terminals, airports, metro services, railway services, defense-related operations, healthcare-related activities, etc.The official statement also stated that the government will guarantee daily watering and dust suppressant application, as well as increase the frequency of automated road sweeping. Drilling and boring as well as other earthmoving operations related to excavation and filling will not be permitted. According to the official announcement, mining, stone crushing, and non-essential construction work have all been banned in the area. JAMMU: Syed Muhammed Altaf Bukhari, the head of the Apni Party, declared on Thursday that if his party were elected to power in Jammu and Kashmir, they would treat the minorities fairly. Altaf Bukhari gave the group, headed by Dalbir Singh, the district president of Minority Cell, his word that he would treat Jammu and Kashmir's minorities fairly in terms of their advancement in society, politics, and education. The province president of Jammu Manjit Singh and senior vice president of the Apni Party, Ghulam Hassan Mir, were also present at the meeting with the Apni Party's Minority Cell delegation. JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Congress stated on Thursday that the BJP opposes panchayat and urban local body elections to be held in the Union Territory because it is certain to lose these elections. The working president of the Jammu and Kashmir Congress, Raman Bhalla, stated that his party was the one that brought up the subject of OBC reservations in ULBs and panchayats in line with the 73rd and 74th amendments in a letter cum objections to the J&K Chief Electoral Officer on September 13, 2023, demanding reservations to OBCs in addition to holding ULB elections under the State Election Commission (SEC) in accordance with the Constitution. Man Arrested In Kishtwar After Being On The Run For 10 Yrs

Jammu, Nov 2: In the Kishtwar area of Jammu and Kashmir, authorities on Thursday apprehended a guy who had been eluding capture for the previous ten years in connection with a criminal case, according to officials. Shabir Ahmed Malik, a resident of Kishtwar's Bun Astan neighbourhood, was sought in relation to a 2013 complaint filed under Section 436 of the Ranbir Penal Code for his suspected participation in using explosives to demolish a house in addition to assaulting and injuring others, they added.According to Kishtwar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khalil Poswal, an absconder was eventually apprehended by a police team conducting raids in response to intelligence about his whereabouts.
