South Asian Americans have woven Diwali traditions into the fabric of America: Biden

NOV 14, 2023 : President Joe Biden acknowledged the contribution of South Asian Americans, who have woven Diwali customs into the fabric of the country, saying that they have been instrumental in the development of the US. "To more than one billion Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, and Buddhists celebrating in America and around the world, we wish you a happy Diwali," Biden wrote in an email. "Over the course of generations, South Asian Americans have woven Diwali traditions into the fabric of our nation symbolising the message of seeking the light of wisdom, love, and unity over the darkness of ignorance, hate, and division," Biden stated. With over 2.1 million views, the message that was posted on November 12 on X, formerly known as Twitter, has since gone viral.It's a message that is more important than ever and has helped our country bounce back from the last few trying years. May this Diwali inspire us to consider the power of our common light and to embrace the enduring spirit of both our country and this holiday, Biden said. In a message sent on Monday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken wished the Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, and Hindu communities celebrating Diwali in the US and around the world a happy and prosperous holiday. "Diwali represents a time of joy and renewal, celebrated through traditions that include lighting diyas, decorating homes with rangoli, and sharing sweets with family and friends," he stated."Diwali is also a reminder of the strength that the US draws from the diversity that makes up our nation, as well as the importance the United States places on safeguarding religious freedom at home and abroad," Blinken stated. NIA attaches Many properties in Pulwama

PULWAMA: According to officials, the NIA attached multiple properties in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday in accordance with the anti-terror law. On the National Investigation Agency's (NIA) special court in Jammu's orders, the immovable properties were attached in accordance with the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), they said. BSF Intercepts Drone Coming From Pakistan In Ferozepur

AMRITSAR, Nov 14: On Monday, the Border Security Force (BSF) in the Ferozepur District of Punjab intercepted another drone that was allegedly flying from Pakistan into Indian territory, close to the village of Tindi Wala. "In accordance with the established protocol, BSF soldiers promptly intervened to avert the smugglers' mishap," the BSF stated. Drones that were being used by drug smugglers and recovered by the BSF from Punjab across the Pakistani border have been found on numerous occasions. SRINAGAR:The head of the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday instructed his staff to devise a system to protect the public while addressing the "inimical" elements. In Kulgam district, DGP R R Swain presided over a joint security review meeting of high ranking officers from the Police, Army, and CRPF. "Evolve more effective mechanism and ensure public safety while dealing with the elements inimical to peace," he said. According to a police spokesman, the purpose of the meeting was to review the district's security configuration and talk about peacekeeping and anti-militarization measures. ADGP Law and Order J&K Vijay Kumar and IGP Kashmir Zone V K Birdi accompanied Swain.Speaking to the officers, the DGP emphasised the importance of friendly policing and preserving a calm and secure atmosphere. KULGAM: According to a press release issued by J&K police on Monday, Director General of Police for Jammu and Kashmir, RR Swain, visited Kulgam, examined the district's security situation, and presided over a high-level meeting of police, army, and CAPF officers. He went on to say that cowardly attacks on defenceless civilians and military personnel show how frustrated terror handlers are with their inability to maintain peace and order in J&K.According to the official statement, the DGP further instructed the officers to keep up the fight against terrorists and those who support them, and to keep a close eye on any suspicious individuals in order to foil their malicious plans to disturb the tranquil atmosphere. The press release also stated that DGP RR Swain gave the officers orders to improve and reinforce the security grids in their respective regions for the general public's safety and security, as well as the protection of vulnerable populations.
