SC Appointed SIT On Black Money To Submit 8th Interim Report Soon

NEW DELHI, Nov 29: Vice-chairman Justice (Retired) Arijit Pasayat of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Black Money, which was established by the Supreme Court, announced yesterday that the group will shortly provide its eighth interim report to the highest court. In its first cabinet meeting following its election in May 2014, the Narendra Modi administration authorised the Supreme Court's directive to appoint the SIT. The Supreme Court has received seven interim reports from the SIT in the past nine years. On Tuesday, November 28, 2023, Justice Pasayat hosted a meeting at his home with representatives from the federal and state administrations regarding the identification and suppression of the nation's production of black money."For more than two hours, officials from the Central Board of Indirect Tax, Income Tax, Enforcement Directorate, Customs and Excise, and Enforcement Directorate met and deliberated on strategies to identify and impede the creation of illicit funds both domestically and internationally," Justice Pasayat informed the media. Night temp drops amid forecast for rains in plains, snow over upper reaches

SRINAGAR:The nighttime temperature decreased throughout most areas on Wednesday, while it remained above average in Jammu and Kashmir, as the weatherman had predicted extensive rain and snow. An official from the meteorological department here said that on November 29 and 30, there is likely to be light to moderate rain in the lowlands and snow over the middle and higher levels, with isolated thunderstorm and lightning chances. Additionally, for these two days, the MeT department has issued a "yellow warning" for isolated thunderstorms and lightning in the Jammu & Kashmir region. The degree of caution is indicated by four different colour codes: orange indicates that government agencies must be ready for severe weather, red indicates that agencies must take action, and green indicates no action."Partially to generally cloudy weather is expected from December 1st to 6th," a meteorological department official stated. He stated that the weather is expected to be partly to generally cloudy on December 1st and 2nd, generally cloudy on December 3rd, and partly to generally cloudy on December 4th and 7th. He added that the city's low temperature was 0.8°C, down from 3.9°C the night before, and that it was 1.7°C warmer than usual for this time of year. According to him, Qazigund recorded a minimum of 0.8°C as opposed to 3.8°C the night before. According to the official, the minimum temperature in Kashmir's gateway town was 1.8°C below average. Pahalgam, a well-known resort in south Kashmir, saw a low of minus 1.2°C, down from 1.2°C the night before. This was 1.9°C above average. According to the official, Kokernag, which is located in south Kashmir, saw a minimum temperature of 2.6°C, down from 2.8°C the night before. The temperature was 3.0°C higher than usual for the area. According to the official, Kupwara town in north Kashmir saw a low of 1.3°C compared to 3.0°C the night before, and it was 2.4°C above average there. According to the official, Gulmarg saw a low of minus 1.8°C as opposed to minus 0.2°C, and the most recent temperature was 1.3°C higher than usual for the well-known skiing destination in north Kashmir. According to him, Jammu's minimum temperature of 10.6°C was 0.3°C higher than average for J&K's winter capital. Pro-Khalistan slogans appear on walls near Chintpurni Temple in HP’s Una; probe begins

UNA: In the Una district of Himachal Pradesh, pro-Khalistan slogans were discovered daubed on walls close to the Mata Chintpurni Temple on Wednesday. The police have reported that they have opened an investigation into the incident. Additionally, a video purportedly indicating Congress figures implicated in the 1984 Sikh riots will not be spared was posted online. The chief of the outlawed organisation Sikhs For Justice, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, was seen pointing out the graffiti on the walls. Una Arjit Sen Thakur, the superintendent of police, said that inquiries are under progress and the culprits will be apprehended shortly.According to him, the police are also examining the video. This is not the first time that the state has reported such an occurrence. Pro-Khalistan banners and graffiti were hung on the exterior of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly in Dharamshala on May 7 of last year. A case has been filed in this regard under sections 153-A and 153-B of the Indian Penal Code as well as section 3 of the HP Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, 1985. Pannun was listed as a principal conspirator and co-accused in this case based on the video footage, and he was arrested under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). Sheetal Devi becomes World No. 1 Para Archer

JAMMU: Sheetal Devi jumped up two spots to take the top spot in the para world archery rankings for the women's compound open category after winning two gold medals at the Para Asian Games. Rakesh Kumar, who won three gold medals at the just finished Para Asian Championship, has also seen improvement, rising two spots to take third place internationally. He is ranked lower than Matteo Bonacina of Italy and Nathan Macqueen of Great Britain. Sarita, another Indian para-archer, advanced significantly in the standings after winning a bronze medal at the Bangkok Asian Championships. Recognizing Punjabi language on top of party agenda : Altaf Bukhari

JAMMU: The president of the Apni Party, Altaf Bukhari, stated that his party's main goal is for Jammu and Kashmir to recognise Punjabi as one of its official languages. "We plan to officially recognise Punjabi as one of Jammu and Kashmir's official languages. At a joining programme in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, Bukhari stated, "The language has a huge contribution and is spoken by people from all the communities in most regions of Jammu and Kashmir." The event was planned by the party's women's wing and Jammu provincial president Pavneet Kour. Prominent Sikh Community social activist Inderpal Singh joined the Apni Party in the presence of the party president, along with his supporters Surinder Singh, Ranjit Singh, Bila Pardan, Paramjit Singh, Bachan Kumar, Ajit Singh, and others. Bukhari welcomed them into the fold of the party. Speaking at the event, Bukhari promised that the Party will address the problems facing the Sikh community and that no one would be left to suffer in silence. He told the newcomers and other Sikh community leaders that it is their first priority to recognise Punjabi language as one of the official languages in Jammu and Kashmir, alluding to the demand for its recognition. He reminisced about the literary and cultural contributions made by the language of Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, he pleaded with the government to ensure that representatives of the Sikh community from every area were represented in the Legislative Assembly. "Apni Party is committed to work for all the communities for their social, economic, and political upliftment by providing them equal representation," he stated. In addition to other languages, he pleaded with parents to educate their kids Punjabi so that it might be revitalised in accordance with community wishes. According to Bukhari, UT is suffering from power outages. After the severe winter, more electricity needs to be purchased for the Jammu and Kashmir areas in order to satisfy the increasing demand. He declared that the Apni Party is determined to carry on the fight for statehood and asked that Jammu and Kashmir hold assembly elections. Prominent party figures in attendance included Dr. Rohit Gupta, Ajaz Kazmi, Abhay Bakaya, Faqir Nath, Prem Lal, Shafi Sheikh, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Usman Majeed, Vijay Bakaya, Manjit Singh, and others. ED attaches Rs 1.21 cr worth assets of Lal Singh

JAMMU: In a money laundering investigation, the Enforcement Directorate has attached properties valued at Rs 1.21 crore belonging to Lal Singh, a former minister and leader of the Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan Party (DSSP). The properties that were attached were 35 kanals of property valued at Rs 27.73 lakh, 48 kanals of land valued at Rs 33.01 lakh, and 84 kanals and nine marlas of land worth Rs 65.46 lakh. Parts of two colleges and a school in the Kathua district village of Karandi, valued at a total of Rs 1.21 crore, are attached assets. The Enforcement Directorate Jammu's Deputy Director issued an attachment order today. It should be noted that Lal Singh spent about eighteen days in the ED's custody and jail before the court granted him temporary release last week. The chair of M/s RB Education Trust, which is embroiled in a money laundering issue, is her wife, former MLA Kanta Andotra.
