NEW DELHI: On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced plans to expand the number of Jan Aushadhi Kendras—which provide discounted medication—from 10,000 to 25,000. Modi engaged in video conference communication with the beneficiaries of the "Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra." According to a statement released by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra is being conducted across the nation with the goal of achieving saturation of the government's flagship schemes by ensuring that the benefits of these schemes reach all targeted beneficiaries in a timely manner. Prime Minister Modi announced a plan to expand the nation's Jan Aushadhi Kendra network from 10,000 to 25,000 locations during the function. ED conducts searches in Rs 250 cr J&K Cooperative Bank fraud case

Srinagar, Nov 30: In connection with the J&K Cooperative Bank fraud of over Rs 250 crore in the name of a fictional housing association, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting searches, according to officials today. The ED's Srinagar office released a brief statement stating that six locations—including the former J&K Cooperative Bank chairperson's premises—had been targeted. "In the money laundering case related to J&K (cooperative) Bank Fraud of more than Rs 250 Cr in the name of fictitious Society namely River Jhelum cooperative House building Society, the Srinagar ED office is conducting search u/s 17 of PMLA today," the statement states. The statement said, "A total of six premises have been covered, including the then-chairperson J&K (cooperative) Bank and Trustees of Society in Srinagar."Notably, Mohd Shafi Dar, Hilal Ahmed Mir (Chairman of Fake Society), and other individuals have already been charged by the ACB with crimes under the Corruption Act and IPC sections. Mughal Road Closed Due to Fresh Snowfall

JAMMU, Nov 30: Due to further snowfall on Thursday, the Mughal Road—which links the twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch with the Shopian district in Kashmir Valley—was closed, according to officials. They said that there had been recent snowfall at a number of locations along the route, including "Pir Ki Gali," which had caused the road to close. The closure of the road was confirmed by DySP PC Surankote Hamid Ali Bandey. The route, which is thought of as a substitute for the Jammu-Srinagar Highway, was blocked multiple times earlier this year because of snowfall, especially in "Pir KiGali" and the surrounding districts. 6 Shops Gutted In Handwara Vegetable Market Fire, No Casualties Reported

Kupwara, Nov 30: A fire that started in the Handwara vegetable market in the Kupwara region of North Kashmir destroyed about six stores. Six stores were damaged in the Thursday morning incident, according to officials. Following the fire that destroyed the sellers' property, the vegetable market was completely overrun with disorder. To put out the fire, the fire department, police, and locals all pitched in. There were no confirmed casualties in the incident. NOV 30, 2023 :The FIH Hockey Women's Junior World Cup 2023 campaign of the Indian Junior Women's Hockey Team got off to a dominant start on Wednesday, opening the competition in Santiago, Chile, with a 12-0 victory over Canada. India's goal scorers were Annu (4', 6', 39'), Dipi Monika Toppo (21'), Mumtaz Khan (26', 41', 54', 60'), Deepika Soreng (34', 50', 54'), and Neelam (45'). Annu (4', 6') scored two goals through penalty corners to give India an early lead. India started the game offensively, applying constant pressure on Canada. India continued to press Canada despite having a two-goal lead and continued to play aggressively; nevertheless, they were unable to score further goals in the first quarter, as the game finished 2-0 in their favour. India maintained their lead in the second quarter by maintaining the momentum from the first. They held the ball and kept breaking through the circle, which allowed Mumtaz Khan (26') and Dipi Monika Toppo (21') to each score a field goal, increasing India's lead even more. Canada was awarded a penalty corner in the interim, but they were unable to capitalise on it.The Indian squad had a comfortable 4-0 lead at the end of the second quarter. DGP RR. Swain sanctions merit scholarship for wards of police personnel

JAMMU: Director General of Police R. R. Swain has approved a meritorious scholarship of rupees 19.62 lakh in favour of 290 wards of serving police personnel in an effort to raise morale and foster competition among these individuals. According to a PHQ order, 31 wards of active police officers have been granted meritorious scholarships worth Rs. 3,15,000 for achieving 80% or higher on their yearly graduation and post-graduation exams for the academic year 2022–2023. A ward has been sanctioned Rupees 18000 for achieving 94.5% in the MBA, and 12 wards have been sanctioned Rupees 12,000 apiece for achieving above 80% in various post-graduation exams.Additionally, eighteen wards have been sanctioned rupees eight thousand five hundred apiece for achieving above 80% in various graduation examinations. By virtue of an additional PHQ Order, 259 wards of active police officers have been granted meritorious scholarships of rupees 16,47,000 for achieving above 80% in the yearly 12th class examination during the 2022–2023 academic year. 181 wards of serving police personnel who received 80%-90% marks in the annual examination have been sanctioned rupees 6000 each, while 78 wards who received 90% and above in the class 12th annual examination during the academic session 2022–2023 have been sanctioned rupees 7200 each.The Central Police Welfare Fund is used to approve the deserving scholarship amount. The Jammu and Kashmir Police offers merit-based scholarship programmes for wards of serving police personnel, deceased police personnel, and SPOs who excel in various classes. Students that excel in technical courses, colleges, and universities are also awarded special rewards. Acting tough against defaulters, JPDCL disconnects power of more than 1700 consumers, realizes 9 Cr in 2 days

JAMMU: The Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) has disconnected 1702 defaulters in a campaign against "illegal" power connections and past-due payments, earning an astounding Rs 9 crore in revenue in just two days, according to officials today. "In the first place, connections of 1702 consumers including influential consumers (Industries, Hotels and Influential persons) were disconnected to sensitise the masses to clear their liabilities on account of electricity bills and develop habits of paying electricity bills in time," it stated. The JPDCL spokesperson went on to say that between March 2023 and October 2023, 49,028 inspections were carried out, resulting in the disconnections of 23131 customers' power and the realisation of Rs. 68.19 crore.All customers have been advised by JPDCL to pay their outstanding balances right now in order to prevent being disconnected. During the crackdown, which was a component of JPDCL's continuous efforts to stop energy theft and deal with financial irregularities, the inspection procedure was strengthened and included both day and night patrols to look for power theft. Spokesman for the JPDCL emphasised that the initiative's goal was to tighten the noose around customers who frequently connect up, violate agreed-upon loads, and bypass metres. The JPDCL underlined in an official statement that it is dedicated to helping legitimate customers and making sure they are not burdened by the misdeeds of bad people.The electricity distribution company emphasised even further how actions like energy theft must be taken seriously. These actions not only cause blackouts but also damage to transformers, which inconveniences law-abiding customers. JPDCL's two-day operation yielded significant revenue, with a total of Rs 9.03 crore collected on Tuesday alone in arrear dues. This indicates the gravity of the problem and the organization's resolve to immediately settle outstanding payments. With 1411 inspections conducted throughout the Jammu Division, the inspection covered a number of circles. SRINAGAR : In the Budgam area of Jammu and Kashmir, a gang purportedly engaged in the illicit trade of fake gold biscuits was dismantled, and three individuals were taken into custody, according to police on Wednesday. According to a police spokeswoman, the Khansahib police station was notified by credible sources on Tuesday about the involvement of a number of people in the illegal sale of fake gold biscuits. In response to a tip, he claimed, a suspect car was stopped close to the Gogjipathri crossing in the Khansahib neighbourhood of the central Kashmir district.He said that the three individuals in the car were Fayaz Ahmad Dar, a resident of Malwa Kunzar, Farooq Ahmad Dar, and Shabir Ahmad Dar, both of Arizal Khansahib. According to the spokesman, 239 biscuits that resembled gold and were perhaps fake were found when searching the car. He said that the accused were immediately apprehended after they were unable to provide proof of the products' authenticity. Srinagar Police books NIT student for uploading ‘sensitive content’

SRINAGAR: On Wednesday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police announced that they had opened a complaint against a student at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar, on the grounds that the student had uploaded sensitive material that offended the religious feelings of a specific community. A post on the official X feed of Srinagar Police stated, "Police have taken cognizance of the incident of uploading of sensitive content against religious sentiments of a particular community by one student of NIT Srinagar." Sections 295A (acts intending to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, etc.), and 153 (intentionally provoking someone in a way that may lead to a riot) of the Indian Penal Code were the sections under which the case was registered.
