Srinagar rec coldest night of season, minimum temp settles at – 4.6°C

SRINAGAR: According to officials, Srinagar saw its coldest night of the year on Saturday, with a low of minus 4.6 degrees Celsius, below the freezing point. The summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir recorded a temperature on Friday night that was more than two degrees lower than the minus 2.4 degrees on Thursday night, according to reports. According to the officials, the current temperature in Srinagar is the lowest of the season. In the Kashmir Valley, Pahalgam was the coldest location. The officials said that Pahalgam, which is one of the base camps for the yearly Amarnath Yatra and is located in the Anantnag district of south Kashmir, recorded a minimum temperature of minus five degrees Celsius.According to reports, the renowned Gulmarg resort in the Baramulla district saw a low of minus 4.2 degrees Celsius on Thursday night, down from minus 3 degrees on Thursday night. The lowest recorded temperatures were minus 2.8 degrees Celsius in Qazigund, minus 2.3 degrees Celsius in Kokernag town, and minus 3 degrees Celsius in Kupwara. According to the meteorological office, the weather will mostly be dry but generally cloudy through December 11. It also forecasted a few-degree drop in nighttime temperatures. The office stated that there is a chance of light rain or snowfall in a few isolated locations in the higher regions of Jammu and Kashmir between December 12 and December 15. IGP Jammu reviews law & order, crime situation in Ramban

RAMBAN: On his first visit to the town since taking over as Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone, Anand Jain on Friday carried out a thorough assessment of the security, law and order, and criminal situation in District Ramban. SHOs, in-charge police posts, and supervisory officers attended the meeting, which was presided over at DPO Ramban. Anand Jain, the Inspector General of Police in Jammu, reportedly reviewed the area's crime pattern and gave instructions on how to improve police operations and fortify public relations during the meeting. The IGP was briefed by SSP Ramban, Mohita Sharma, regarding the security, criminal, and law and order situation. She outlined the steps taken by Ramban Police to enhance policing and fortify the security grid.A thorough conversation about the status of open investigations was had. With a focus on upholding law and order, preventing criminal activity, and resolving public complaints, the Inspector General of Police in Jammu instructed officers to improve their abilities in handling Narco and UAPA cases. In order to improve outcomes, he emphasised tighter supervision of significant cases, particularly NDPS/UAPA cases. Additionally, the IGP Jammu promoted a clean and eco-friendly environment by planting a sapling at DPO Ramban. The visit included the opening of the newly renovated Police Station Banihal building as well as a tour of the SDPO office Banihal's facilities. ADGP chairs meeting ahead of SC verdict of Art 370

SRINAGAR: Leading police and government representatives convened here on Friday to deliberate on "law and order" prior to the Supreme Court's decision in the Article 370 case. Anyone found engaging in mischief or abusing social media will face punitive action, according to a senior Jammu and Kashmir Police officer. For the first time, senior superintendents of police and district magistrates from the Kashmir division met jointly at PCR Kashmir under the direction of Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, J&K, Vijay Kumar, the spokesman said. Jammu, Dec 8: Security forces reported on Friday that they had found warlike stores that may have been dropped by drones in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir's Lamberi area. SRINAGAR, Dec 8: In order to prevent situations similar to the one where a police inspector was attacked on October 29 at Eidgah in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Friday that all officers and other ranks have been instructed to adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) in letter when on leave or on duty. Speaking to reporters outside the wreath-laying ceremony for the late police inspector Masroor Ahmed Wani, who died yesterday at AIIMS in DPL Srinagar after being hurt in a terrorist attack while playing cricket at Eidgah on October 29, ADGP Law and Order Vijay Kumar stated that officers and other ranks have been ordered to adhere to the statements of principle.In order to avoid becoming easy targets, Kumar stated, "new instructions passed to one and all to follow SoPs while on leave or while performing the duties." Inspector Wani fought for his life for 39 days before passing away at AIIMS yesterday. His head was stuck by a bullet. This morning, Wani's body was transported from AIIMS to Srinagar. In response to a question, ADGP Kumar acknowledged that police had information regarding a potential terrorist attack on October 29. "Yes, we received information regarding a potential terrorist attack. However, errors do occur, and in this instance as well, an error resulted in the loss of an officer, the speaker added, adding that a "fool-proof mechanism has been put in place to avoid Eidgah like incidents."When asked about the assailants who killed Wani, he responded, "Those involved will be eliminated or arrested soon." Disclosing any information regarding the ongoing investigations is not advised. Senior police and administration officials wept as they watched the wreath-laying ceremony for the late inspector Masroor Ahmed Wani at DPL. There were flowers left for the fallen police officer.
