Night temp improves, Srinagar mercury settles at -1.5 °C

SRINAGAR: Although the Valley's nighttime low has dropped, it is still below freezing in all of Kashmir's stations. The capital of Jammu and Kashmir during the summer, Srinagar, recorded a low of minus 1.5 degrees Celsius. The temperature dropped to minus 2.6 degrees Celsius in Qazigund and minus 2.3 degrees Celsius in Kokernag. The north Kashmiri town of Kupwara recorded a low of minus 2.4 degrees Celsius. Pahalgam is freezing at minus 1.5 degrees Celsius, while Gulmarg's temperature has dropped to minus 3.5 degrees. DGP holds public grievances redressal programme

JAMMU: At Jammu's Police Headquarters, RR Swain, the Director General of Police (DGP) for Jammu and Kashmir, oversaw a grievance redressal programme. This was the DGP's third such programme, according to a statement. It stated that 125 people, including women from various Union Territory regions, took part in the four-hour programme and brought their complaints to the DGP. All those who voiced their complaints were given a patient hearing by the DGP, who also reaffirmed the J&K Police's commitment to resolving their concerns. Additionally, he gave several police units immediate orders to expedite high-quality redressal. The DGP went on to say that in appropriate cases, WhatsApp would be used to communicate the status and advancement of grievances. In the meantime, the DGP has emphasised that handling general transfer requests or hiring SPOs is not the goal of the grievance redressal programme.
