SRINAGAR: According to sources, former Director General of Police Dilbag Singhwho retired from service on Tuesday, killed over 1,000 terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. The Jammu and Kashmir Police successfully overcame number of obstacles when Singh was in charge, including the restructuring of J&K and the repeal of Article 370. “During his tenure, around 1,055 terrorists were killed, 58 surrendered, and 1,448 terrorist supporters were arrested,” according to officials.They also stated that 887 police medals, three Kirti chakras, thirteen Shaurya chakras, and an Ashok chakra were awarded to the force during this time. During Singh’s tenure, the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir underwent notable changes, according to the officials. “There are no bandh calls or hartals for the first time in the past thirty-plus years. Many positive things are happening in the UT, companies and education are operating normally, and people are having nice time,” they stated. According to the officials, 11,725 drug traffickers were detained during Singh’s tenure, and 98,249 kg of drugs and psychoactive materials—including 741 kg of heroin—were taken into custody. According to them, the J&K Police’s investigative division has also been enhanced to new degree. The officials also mentioned the creation of new investigative groups, such as the Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF), Economic Offence Wing (EOW), Special Investigation Unit (SIU), and State Investigation Agency (SIA).
