Jammu, Aug 20: The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir stated on Sunday that no matter what anyone thinks, the Indian Constitution permits the UT administration to take harsh measures against people who threaten national integrity, have supported terrorism and its eco-system, and have “enjoyed government jobs through illegal means.”
The LG stated that it doesn’t matter who says what because the Indian Constitution contains a clause that reads, “Go tough, rather hard against those who pose threat to State/nation’s integrity and sovereignty.” This was stated to reporters on the sidelines of the Green Jammu and Kashmir Driver 2023-34 launch from IIM Jammu.According to him, the J&K administration has made the decision to take harsh action against anyone who has supported terrorism, its ecosystem, or obtained government employment through “illegal means.” Therefore, it is irrelevant who says what, the LG explained. His comments came a day after Sajad Bazaz, the chief manager of J&K Bank, was fired under the excuse that the bank had received “credible reports against him from the agencies.” “Anyone who has supported terror and its eco-system will have to face the music,” he declared.
In response to a question, the LG stated that Kashmir has historically been a top target for terrorists. Security organisations used a 360-degree strategy in Kashmir to combat terrorism. The Jammu region is currently employing the same strategy. When asked if two terrorists who are thought to be responsible for the Dhangri killings and attack on an army convoy had been killed in recent encounters, he responded, “We have gained some success in Jammu and more is expected soon.
Regarding the installation of smart metres and public outcry, the LG stated that administration will not act against the interests of the people. “However, it is also true that the J&K government has spent Rs 20,000 Cr on power purchases over the past few years. The government will make decisions for the needy at the appropriate moment, while the wealthy should pay their electricity bills, according to the LG.
