New Delhi : In connection with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) attack in Dhangri village of Rajouri district, in which five civilians were killed and several others suffered serious injuries in January of this year, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at the homes of several suspects on Saturday in Poonch district of Jammu & Kashmir.Today, five places in the Mendhar Tehsil of the Poonch district’s Gursai hamlet were the target of raids. The properties, which were the homes of Overground Workers (OGWs) connected to the LeT, a designated terrorist organisation, were thoroughly searched by NIA teams. In order to uncover the conspiracy, a number of digital devices and documents containing incriminating data and content have been seized and are being carefully examined.On August 31, 2023, the NIA detained two suspects in connection with case (RC-01/2023/NIA/JMU), Nisar Ahmed @Haji Nisar and Mushtaq Hussain. They are currently being held in Kot Bhalwal Central Jail in Jammu. Today’s raids were the result of revelations made by these two guys and information obtained by the NIA.According to NIA findings, both of the apprehended accused were harbouring the terrorists responsible for the horrific attack. For for than two months, they had supported the terrorists logistically and housed them in a hideout that they had constructed. Investigations revealed that the pair had been acting under the orders of three Pakistan-based LeT handlers, Saifullah @ Sajid Jutt, Abu Qatal @ Qatal Sindhi, and Mohd. Qasim.Under sections 302/ 307/120-B/452/323 of the IPC, sections 13/16/18 of the UA (P) Act 1967, and sections 7/27 of the Arms Act, the attack case was initially filed as FIR No. 01/2023 at PS Rajouri. The case has been taken over by the NIA, which re-registered it on January 13 and is now conducting additional inquiries.
