POONCH: Authorities in the Poonch district’s Surankote area reported on Wednesday that an unexplained explosion had occurred close to a temple. According to them, the explosion happened close to Shiv Mandir. Nevertheless, there were no immediate reports of any injuries or fatalities. An investigation by SHO Surankote verified the “mysterious explosion” and stated that a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has been called to the scene. Shortly after the explosion, the area was roped off by police and security personnel. Reports state that at approximately 8:40 p.m., there was an explosion close to the temple, and everyone could hear it. But there have been no reports of casualties. Shrapnel was discovered on the temple walls following the explosion. Although investigations by security agencies and other security forces have begun, it is still unclear who is responsible for this blast. Additional sources claimed that since the explosion happened directly behind the temple, it might have been a grenade attack and that there might have been a plot to target minorities in Surankote.
