SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar today forecast snow at many places of Jammu and Kashmir from January 3 to 6, with peak activity on January 4 and 5
The weather conditions will likely remain dry till December 31, the MeT official said.
He said two Western Disturbances (WDs) in quick succession likely to affect Jammu and Kashmir, and adjoining areas from January 1 onwards.
The official said from January 1 to 2, the J&K will likely be hit with feeble western disturbance, with weather conditions likely be cloudy with light snow at scattered places during January 1 evening/night to January 2 morning.
Similarly the region will likely be hit by moderate western disturbance during January 3 to 6, with weather conditions likely be cloudy with light to moderate rain (plains of Jammu), while snow at many places of Jammu & Kashmir with peak activity on January 4 and 5, the official said.
The official continued that there is a possibility of heavy snow at isolated higher reaches of J&K during January 4 and 5.
The official in an advisory said that cold wave at isolated places of Jammu and Kashmir during December 30 and 31 will continue.
In view of snowfall, sub-freezing temperature and icy conditions over roads (plains/higher reaches), the tourists, travelers and transporters are advised to follow advisories from administration and traffic department.
