SRINAGAR: While Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, froze at minus 3.5 degrees Celsius on Friday, the nighttime temperature has improved in several other parts of the region. Parts of Dal Lake froze in the bitter cold that swept through the area. Every station has reported a temperature below zero, and Qazigund, the entry point to Kashmir, has recorded a low of minus 2.8 degrees Celsius. Famous tourist destination Pahalgam recorded a minimum temperature of minus 5.0 degree Celsius, while popular ski resort Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 3.4 degree Celsius. The mercury dropped to minus 4.2 degrees Celsius in Kupwara and minus 1.9 degrees Celsius in Kokernag, respectively.
