SRINAGAR, Apr 27: A Day after some miscreants attempted to “disrespect” a local shrine and a mosque in south Kashmir, J&K Police said a mentally deranged person was behind the incident.Police said on Thursday night, some people attempted to disrespect the local shrine and a mosque in Dadsara Tral in Pulwama district by damaging windowpanes and also tried disrespectfully displacing the Quran. J&K Police registered a case and took up the investigations.“Based on evidence, Police Awantipora during investigation has identified the perpetrator of crime namely Manzoor Ahmad. The said person is found to be mentally deranged person from Tral involved in the incident,” a police statement said.
“Investigation with his family and acquaintance indicated that the said person has proclivity of showing such behaviour earlier also. Further investigation is going on,” it added.
Police has requested people not to pay heed to any rumours and not fall prey to scrupulous elements and vested interests to vitiate atmosphere for their own interests.
