JAMMU, Aug 29: Expressing serious concern over the present state of affairs in Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri, PDP president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has dubbed the university as a site of gross administrative failures and faculty exploitation.
“Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University – Mufti’s dream project for which Chowdhary Masood toiled hard lies in shambles today. Once envisioned as a centre of learning it has instead become a site of gross administrative failure & faculty exploitation,” she said, in a post on her social media handle on X.
“A place meant to empower generations has mutated into a symbol of neglect & abject exploitation. With 80% post vacant, no permanent faculty & zero infrastructure contractual staff is exploited leaving students neglected,” adds the post.
Launching a scathing attack on the incumbent Vice-Chancellor of BGSBU, Mehbooba Mufti, in her post, alleges that the former has failed to make a single bold or meaningful decision. “His presence has only deepened the festering administrative paralysis. BSBGU is in urgent need of rescue. #SaveBGSBU @OmarAbdullah,” she post.
Pertinent to mention that BGSBU was established in 2002 when Mufti Mohd Sayeed was Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir State. Retired ADGP Masood Chowdhary was the founder Vice-Chancellor of BGSBU. Presently, the university is purportedly facing significant faculty and administrative issues, such as faculty shortage, overburdened junior faculty, administrative vacancies, promotion and recruitment issues, etc.
