UDHAMPUR: Continuing its drive against drug abuse, Police sealed a medical shop for illegal sale of Schedule H1 Drugs at Ghordi while a drug peddler carrying intoxicants was arrested at MH Chowk Udhampur. District Police Udhampur in coordination with the Assistant Controller Drugs sealed Global Health Care at Ghordi for failing to maintain proper records and selling drugs without valid prescriptions as mandated by law. During the inspection, the team recovered and seized some packets of Pregabalin capsules found in the possession of the proprietor namely Anil Sharma of Barmeen, Tehsil Ramnagar, without any corresponding sales or purchase records or valid medical prescriptions. The matter has been reported to the Assistant Drug Controller, Udhampur for further necessary action. In another case, a drug peddler was arrested in the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur and 500 number of intoxicant capsules (Pregaballin) were recovered from his possession. The accused was apprehended by a Police Party of Police Station Udhampur, headed by SHO, Raghuvir Singh during patrolling duty near MH Chowk. 500 number of intoxicant capsules (Pregaballin) were recovered from possession of the accused, identified as Mohd Ishfaq, son of Farman Ali of Dansal, Jhajjar Kotli. Meanwhile, Police booked a person under NDPS Act after he was found under the influence of morphine. An information was received at Police Post Battal Ballian regarding a person lying unconscious near High School Badali, Udhampur. Acting swiftly, the police team of PP Battal Ballian reached the spot and identified the individual as Abdul Majid son of Shokat Ali of Rakh Badali, Udhampur. The person was immediately shifted to GMC Udhampur, where his medical examination was conducted. As the medical report confirmed that the said individual was under the influence of Morphine, a case FIR number 249/2025 U/S 27(a) NDPS Act has been registered in this connection at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
