UDHAMPUR: Today, the government changed the name of the Udhampur district’s Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Railway Station to “Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Udhampur Railway Station.” In honour of the valiant son of the soil, Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan, who lived in Udhampur’s Adarsh Colony neighbourhood, Northern Railways renamed the Udhampur Railway Station as Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Railway Station on September 17, 2023. In February 2016, while fighting terrorists holed up in the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) facility in the Pulwama district, he gave his life in defence of the country. The people of Udhampur district approved of the Northern Railways’ decision to rename the Railway Station in honour of their hometown hero, but they insisted that their district’s name remain part of the official name. The Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Railway Station was renamed Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Udhampur Railway Station by an order granted by the LG administration in response to their plea.
