The CM said, “The State government has filed a FIR against the Editors Guild members who are attempting to incite more clashes in the state of Manipur.” A report by the Editors Guild of India’s “Fact-Finding Mission on Media’s Reportage of the Ethnic Violence in Manipur” was published on September 2nd. The Guild had stated in its assessment, which was published on the Guild’s social media account on X, that “There are obvious indicators that the state’s leadership turned partisan during the battle. It should have refrained from taking a side in the ethnic strife, but as a democratic government, it did not fulfil its obligations.Assam Rifles DG Lt. Gen. PC Nair had stated on Friday that “Manipur is currently witnessing a “unique” situation due to the ethnic clashes because both communities have a large number of weapons putting the state in a position like never before.” “Manipur is currently dealing with an unusual crisis. We have never experienced anything like this. When the Nagas and Kukis clashed in the early 1990s, something similar occurred, and in the late 1990s, there was also fighting among the Kuki clans. Currently, the largest problem is the abundance of guns in both groups. The thoughts of both communities are connected to this. The thoughts of both communities are connected to this. These days, everyone is so corrupted against one another. This needs to be stopped, the DG stated, adding that the populace must come to understand that peace is the only viable option. Since the state had been engulfed in violence for more than three months, paramilitary troops had to be used by the central government to regain control of the situation.
