SAMBA: In the Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, a man has been taken into custody for allegedly trying to rape a class 12 student while posing as an Army officer, according to officials. They said that Sham Lal, a resident of the district’s Ramgarh area, has been identified as the accused. The girl and her brother, a class 10 student from the Udhampur district, filed a complaint alleging that Lal, posing as an Army Colonel, lured them to Vijaypur with false promises of enrolling them in the NCC and then recruiting them for the belt force. Additionally, they claimed that at midnight, he tried to rape the girl who had come to the police asking for assistance, after testing their endurance while running along the Vijaypur-Ramgarh road. Police said that after receiving a formal complaint, they moved quickly to apprehend the accused and are currently conducting additional investigation.
