BHUBANESWAR: Today, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid a visit to the World Skill Centre, a prestigious advanced skill training facility founded by the Odisha government in Bhubaneswar. Dr. Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, the Lieutenant Governor’s principal secretary, and Saurabh Bhagat, the commissioner/secretary of the J&K Department of Skill Development, joined him. The Lieutenant Governor engaged with instructors and trainees while touring the building and lab. The Lieutenant Governor stated in his speech that the World Skill Centre is essential to the upskilling of Odisha young and their readiness for careers in the future.In order to provide excellent engineering and non-engineering skill training, as well as a unique mentoring approach that allows students to hone their talents, he emphasised the necessity of duplicating the institute’s best practises and training programmes throughout the nation. “Our institutions must link skills, workplace change, and industry needs.” The Lt Governor stated that training programmes should make use of technology to solve issues with demand and the skills gap, develop young people, and provide a cadre of experts with specialised expertise to aid in the development of a developed India.The Lieutenant Governor stated that in order to provide greater job prospects for young people in the skill sectors, high skill sets and capabilities are required due to the quick industrialization and exponential growth of technology. He continued, “We have to look at every avenue to get the younger workforce out of the less productive informal sector and into the more productive formal sectors.” The Lieutenant Governor praised the Odisha government’s efforts under the “Skilled in Odisha” programme. The Lieutenant Governor also discussed the continuing industrialization of Jammu and Kashmir at the World Skill Centre, as well as the special initiatives of the UT Administration aimed at making J&K a centre for innovation and skill development.There were prominent officials from the Odisha government in attendance, including Subroto Bagchi, Chief Advisor to the Government of Odisha on Institutional Capacity Building, and Alka Misra, Chairperson of the Odisha Skill Development Authority. Afterwards, the Lt Governor spoke with representatives of Startup Odisha and talked about the changes the group has done to create the state’s startup and innovation environment. The Lieutenant Governor was briefed by the Startup Odisha team on “O Hub,” a cutting-edge incubator that hopes to register over 5000 firms by 2025. Dr. Omkar Rai, Executive Chairman of Startup Odisha, listed the organization’s noteworthy accomplishments and future growth goals.
