Jammu, Jan 14: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday spoke in favour of retired military personnel, law enforcement officials, and veterans joining the current counterterrorism effort, claiming that although terrorism was nearing its end, the enemy was still attempting to feed it. Additionally, he said that the administration of J&K will provide land in Jammu and Kashmir for the development of Sainik Colonies, which would house the families of slain heroes. After speaking with veterans, veer Naris, and NoKs of fallen troops, the LG stated at the Jammu occasion that 4 crore visitors had come to the UT in the previous two years. In 2022, 1.88 crore visitors travelled to J&K, while in 2023, 2.12 crore people visited the UT. The J&K is experiencing a calm environment, but our enemy is unable to accept this and is still encouraging terrorism, according to the LG. According to him, terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir is dying, but the “adversary” is still planning ways to feed it. “During the most recent security review meeting, I argued that veterans, including officers, soldiers, and police officers, ought to be included in the decisive battle against terrorism,” the LG stated. He claimed the ex-gratia payment of Rs 25 lakh to the families of the slain troops was insufficient. The LG declared, “I will make sure that the amount is raised this year only.”According to Sinha, the J&K government will provide land this year for the establishment of Sainik Colonies in both Jammu and Kashmir so that the families and NoKs of slain heroes can live there.
