SRINAGAR: ‘Pensioners Sammelan’ was officially launched today in Srinagar, and pension beneficiaries engaged with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The Lieutenant Governor thanked all of the elderly citizens who came to the programme during his speech. Blessings from elders are always invaluable. He claimed that the J&K Administration will make sure they have a happy and healthy life. Our ‘Sanskar’, our civilizational obligation, and our age-old custom are to look for the aged, give them social security, and help those in need in whatever way we can. The Lt Governor declared, “Providing universal coverage and ensuring beneficiaries are treated with respect is the top priority of the J&K Administration.”The Lieutenant Governor commended the entire District Administration Srinagar team for reaching 100% saturation under the Integrated Social Security Scheme and paying out pensions to recipients through September. He said that the Integrated Social Security Scheme is a demand-driven programme with no limitations and that the Administration is committed to helping everyone in need. He said that around 44,000 senior citizens, widows, and divorcees in Srinagar are currently covered, and that benefits will be increased if needed. In order to expedite the saturation of the Social Security Schemes, he made a strong impression on district officials throughout the Union Territory (UT) to imitate the best practises of the Srinagar District administration and implement the required technical innovations.According to the Lieutenant Governor, the efficient social security net for the very last person in queue will uplift society and enhance the lives of the impoverished and urban poor. At Pensioners Sammelan, the Lieutenant Governor guaranteed widowed and divorced pensioners, as well as individuals with disabilities, all the support and help they would need from the administration to pursue self-employment. He also emphasised the efforts made by the UT government to guarantee everyone’s increased security and quality of life, as well as to expand access to universal health insurance. The only area in the nation where the widow pension eligibility age is eighteen is Jammu & Kashmir. According to him, the administration has set up a helpline and informed the regulations of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act to ensure their adequate care.
