LG inaugurates Cinema Halls in Baramulla and Handwara

BARAMULLA: In yet another historic first after abrogation of Article 370, LG Sinha today inaugurated the 100-seater Multipurpose Cinema Halls in Baramulla and Handwara.After more than three decades, the cinema is now again available in Baramulla. The Lt. Governor inaugurated cinema halls in Shopian and Pulwama the previous year, reviving the cinema culture. In Srinagar, a second Private Multiplex opened in 2022. In order to give the populace access to a big-screen experience, the Lt. Governor has promised to build a cinema hall in each district. The Lt. Governor expressed his congratulations to the residents of Handwara and Baramulla on this historic occasion. He claimed that J&K’s expanding aspirations are reflected in the movie theatres.The new Multipurpose film Halls are part of a Public-Private Partnership that aims to give the public recreational facilities, revive a thriving film culture, and give the younger generation a place to unwind, converse, and think through seminars. Both locations’ facilities will also have a cafe, virtual reality (VR) equipment, conference rooms, and youth seminar spaces. The Lt. Governor launched a number of district development initiatives in Baramulla. He praised the District Administration’s efforts, those of the PRIs, and the civic society for moving Baramulla forward on the road of peace and development. “Baramulla is currently transforming from an aspirational district to an inspirational district. The district has advanced socioeconomically in the past five years, according to the Lt. Governor.The Lt. Governor reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to working for the socioeconomic development of all people, noting that the underprivileged have priority access to public resources. “The vision of Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas has transformed the lives of the less fortunate. The Lt. Governor stated, “We are working on a comprehensive and scalable strategy to harness the incredible creative capacity of a huge people. According to him, providing land to the landless and building Pakka Houses under the PMAY programme will help thousands of households reach their full potential and take care of their fundamental requirements.The Lt. Governor remarked, “Government wants to see the last person in queue feel empowered, and I want to reassure these families that a good future awaits you. The Lt. Governor praised the Lion of Baramulla, Maqbool Sherwani, and urged every sector of society to make a meaningful contribution during the next 25 years as Viksit Jammu Kashmir, a new and aspirational J&K. “Cronyism and the immoral nexus, which flourished in J&K for 70 years, are being ruthlessly destroyed. Many with vested interests are attempting to obstruct J&K’s progress as a result of the alarm it has caused among some powerful people, but the Lt Governor promised that tough action against corrupts would not stop. He argued that society should unite with the government to oppose those responsible for decades of teenage misdirection. Through programmes like Mission Youth, Ms. Safina Baig, the chairperson of the District Development Council in Baramulla, praised the ongoing efforts of the Lt. Governor-led UT administration for the welfare and empowerment of the youth in J&K. The newly opened theatres will screen the popular Bollywood film “Pathaan,” according to Rahul Nehra, Director of Jadooz Media. Mission Youth works to build multipurpose movie theatres throughout UT.In the districts of Pulwama, Shopian, Udhampur, Bandipora, Kupwara, Doda, and Baramulla, Multipurpose Cinema Halls have been established on a trial basis. A nine-room, three-story structure at HSS Kunzer, an auditorium at HSS Sultanpora, and water supply schemes funded by the Jal Jeevan Mission at Achabal Doabagh, Vadderabad, Panzalla, and WSS Dolipora Fresthar are among the other projects totaling Rs 4 crore that the Lt Governor officially opened in Baramulla. Prestigious individuals from all walks of life were there, along with Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, CEO of Mission Youth, Vivek Gupta, DIG, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar, Deputy Commissioner of Baramulla, senior members of the Police, Civil Administration, and Security Forces, and members of the PRI.
