JAMMU: At the University of Jammu’s Foundation Day Ceremony today, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha gave a speech. In his remarks, the Lt. Governor expressed his congratulations to the Vice Chancellor, the university’s faculty, and its students on the occasion and emphasised the crucial role that higher education institutions like Jammu University play in the quick and comprehensive development of the country. “Jammu University is making an immense contribution to brighten J&K’s image globally in research, innovation, and economic development,” the Lt Governor added. “With several landmark initiatives like ‘Design Your Degree’ and ‘College on Wheels’.”According to him, the university’s futuristic outlook and the adoption of National Education Policy 2020 have ensured the greatest academic standards and the most highly qualified workforce to address future problems. The Lt. Governor urged colleges and universities as well as the teaching profession to foster originality, research, and new inventions on campuses. All of the world’s inventions, all of the established institutions, and all of the novel concepts that have emerged in the humanities are the results of someone’s imagination. He claimed that stoking students’ imaginations should be every university’s main goal.”Education is a never-ending research and learning process. The Lt. Governor stated that it is the duty of teachers to creatively set up a system in their classrooms to promote fresh thinking, establish clear objectives, and foster commitment, self-assurance, optimism, and interest for the road ahead. The Lt Governor added that over the past three years, our higher education institutions have worked to break down departmental barriers, make the curriculum more adaptable to encourage lifelong learning, and keep innovating the classroom ideas by promoting mentoring rather than teaching.Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jammu, Prof. Umesh Rai, provided a summary of the major projects the institution has undertaken. Higher Education Institutes of J&K presented the Lt Governor with the Shikshan-Kul Gaurav Samman on this occasion. The Lt Governor opened Jammu University’s community radio station, 91.2 FM-Dhwani JU, at the university. According to him, this radio station will be crucial to Jan-Bhagidari, develop the educational ecosystem, engage with the community, and raise awareness of a variety of issues affecting the average person.Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Jammu and IIM Jammu was formed. This agreement will support development in key areas like teaching, research, and cultural understanding as well as promote entrepreneurship, innovation, and incubation. A book titled “Applied Solid State Physics” by Professor Rajni Kant was published by Wiley. Additionally, the University recognised both present and retired employees for their outstanding accomplishments. Jugal Kishore Sharma, a member of parliament, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, a lieutenant governor’s advisor, Padma Shri Prof. JS Rajput, Padma Shri Mohan Singh, Alok Kumar, the principal secretary for schools and higher education, vice chancellors from various universities, the directors of the IIM and IIT Jammu, senior officials, faculty members, and Jammu University students were among the dignitaries present.
