LEH: On Wednesday, President Droupadi Murmu stated that the people of India have a unique affinity and respect for their fellow residents in Ladakh and are cognizant of their role in defending the country. As she arrived at a civic event held in her honour at Sindhu Ghat, Murmu stated that the Sindhu river is ingrained in every Indian’s historical, cultural, and spiritual consciousness. According to a statement released by Rashtrapati Bhavan, she stated that people in India have a particular fondness and respect for the people of Ladakh and are aware of the efforts made by the region’s citizens to the nation’s defence.According to President Murmu, this region’s residents are renowned for their bravery and Buddhist faith. She claimed that through Ladakh, the eternal and living teachings of Lord Buddha were dispersed over distant and vast nations. According to the president, Ladakh offers countless opportunities for the growth of ecotourism, adventure tourism, and spiritual tourism. According to her, there is a lot of room for growth in the wellness and health tourism industries in this area.The fact that Ladakh is still home to numerous indigenous communities’ unique traditions is something to be happy about, according to President Murmu. She claimed that people are aware of the love and reverence for the natural world that are shown in tribal groups’ artwork, dances, songs, and way of life. Murmu emphasised that in line with the “lifestyle for the environment,” “we should preserve the lifestyle of tribal communities.” She suggested that it would be beneficial to persuade the residents of those villages to embrace the virtues of contemporary development.This meeting point of modernity and tradition, according to Murmu, would prove to be the best route for sustained development for all inhabitants, especially those of Ladakh. The president also spoke with local tribal people and members of self-help groups (SHGs).
