New Delhi, Feb 10: The BCCI announced on Saturday that star batsman Virat Kohli would miss the remaining Test matches against England for to personal reasons. This puts an end to rumours regarding the star player’s availability for the highly anticipated match. The first two Tests had been skipped by Kohli. For personal reasons, Virat Kohli will not be eligible for selection for the rest of the series. The BCCI stated in a release that “The Board fully respects and supports Mr. Kohli’s decision.” Kohli is presently away due to an urgent family emergency. India won the second Test at Vizag, tying the series at one. The third game is set to begin in Rajkot on February 15.Senior players Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul were chosen by the national selection committee for the team, although their inclusion is pending approval from the BCCI medical staff. Jadeja sustained a hamstring strain, and Rahul experienced a mild ache in his right quadricep. Shreyas Iyer, a senior hitter, has not been selected despite complaining of lower back and groyne stiffness. Nevertheless, the BCCI has not released a medical update for him. It is thought that Iyer would have been dropped regardless, and selectors’ decision was made simpler by his injury.Bengal speedster Akash Deep, who has been acknowledged for his continuous performance in first-class cricket and in the recent India A vs. England Lions Test series, is the only new face in the 17-man roster. Saurabh Kumar, the left-arm spinner, has been discharged, Jadeja has returned, and Mohammed Siraj has rejoined the team in lieu of Avesh Khan.
