JAMMU: In view of the ongoing festive season, the Indian Railways has intensified security and ticket-checking measures across all stations and trains to ensure the safety and convenience of passengers.
A joint checking drive was conducted today at Jammu Railway Station by a combined team comprising ticket checking staff from the Commercial Department, officers and personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), and the Government Railway Police (GRP).
As part of this campaign, thorough checks were carried out across the station premises, platforms, waiting halls, and trains, with special focus on passenger luggage and parked vehicles. Passengers were also sensitized about the prohibition of carrying explosive or flammable materials, such as gas cylinders and petrol, onboard trains. Strict action will be taken against anyone found violating these safety regulations.
Simultaneously, a large-scale ticket checking drive was undertaken to curb ticketless travel. In a single day, a total of 673 passengers were challaned for traveling without valid tickets or travel authority, realizing a record one-day revenue of approximately ₹5 lakh—the highest so far for the Jammu Division of Indian Railways.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Uchit Singhal, appreciated the efforts of the railway staff and urged passengers to remain alert and cooperative.
He said, “Exercise caution while traveling. Ignore rumors and be wary of misleading news on social media. Follow railway safety guidelines so that we can all enjoy a safe and smooth festive travel experience.”
