JAMMU: In view of the severe disruption of water supply caused by continuous heavy rainfall, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has intensified emergency measures to ensure safe drinking water availability for residents.
Dr. Devansh Yadav, Commissioner, JMC, today visited Company Bagh to inspect water tanker operations and review on-ground arrangements. He interacted with residents and field staff, assuring them that maximum resources have been mobilized to tackle the crisis.
The JMC has deployed free water tankers across the city, with a focus on the most affected and densely populated localities. At present, supply is being managed through a community-based system, with tankers stationed at designated collection points from where residents can fetch water.
Clarifying the arrangements, Dr. Yadav said that individual household delivery is not feasible at this stage due to high demand and weather-related challenges. However, he added that citizens in need of additional supply may avail private water tankers after 7:00 PM, once government resources complete their day-long operations.
He further assured that these measures are temporary, and teams are working round-the-clock to restore the normal water supply network as soon as the weather stabilizes and technical repairs are completed.
Helpline numbers have also been issued for residents to report shortages and request tankers in their localities. Appealing for patience and cooperation, Dr. Yadav urged citizens to use water judiciously during this emergency period.
