JAMMU, Dec 4: Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Devansh Yadav, conducted surprise inspection of the cattle pound at Seri Khurd (Nagrota) today to oversee its working by the outsourced agency ‘J&K Gau Raksha Sewa Smiti’.
The Commissioner inspected all the animal sheds to verify their segregation and physical health etc. The treatment record of the animals, the fodder and the manpower on the spot was verified. It was observed segregation of the animals has not been properly done by the agency besides the balanced nutritional diet has not been provided to the cattle.It was informed by the concerned Veterinary Assistant Surgeon that the working of the ‘Gaushalla’ is under CCTV surveillance and accessible online. The Commissioner took round of the premises and issued slew of directions to the outsourced agency as well as to the Incharge of the Cattle Pound, which included immediate segregation of the animals in separate sheds and provide nutritious diet to the cattle.
The outsourced agency was directed to properly maintain the death record of the animals and also keep sufficient stock of the emergency medicines. The Paravet of the JMC was directed to maintain the treatment record of each animal separately by pasting the photograph along with tag number of the animal on the register. The concerned VAS was directed to coordinate with Regional & Urban Development Agency (RUDA) for making compost out of cow dung at the site.
The Commissioner was accompanied by the Joint Commissioner (H&S), Animal Welfare Officer and Incharge VAS Cattle Pound.
