JAMMU: In an ongoing effort to strengthen cleanliness and public health systems across the city, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Dr. Devansh Yadav, conducted an extensive tour of various locations in Jammu and inspected the government quarters earmarked for Darbar Move employees of the Civil Secretariat.
During the visit, Dr. Yadav reviewed the sanitation infrastructure and interacted with residents to understand concerns related to cleanliness, waste disposal, and mosquito control. He directed officials to ensure proper segregation of dry and wet waste at the source and emphasized that waste must be systematically loaded into autos for scientific disposal at designated waste management sites to maintain hygiene and prevent littering.
Stressing on preventive health measures, the Commissioner instructed sanitation and health teams to intensify spraying and fogging in and around the government quarters to curb mosquito breeding and control the spread of vector-borne diseases such as dengue and chikungunya. He also called for identifying stagnant water spots, cleaning drains, and maintaining waste disposal channels to eliminate breeding grounds.
Reiterating JMC’s commitment to maintaining a clean and disease-free environment, Dr. Yadav directed officials to ensure strict vigilance, daily lifting of garbage from residential quarters and open spaces, and regular monitoring of door-to-door waste collection. He further emphasized the need to increase public awareness on waste segregation.
The Commissioner appealed to residents to cooperate with JMC teams by keeping their surroundings clean, segregating waste at home, and reporting sanitation issues through the JMC helpline or mobile application.
Health Officer, JMC, Dr. Vinod Sharma, along with senior officers of the Health section, accompanied the Commissioner during the tour.
