JAMMU: Ahead of the Christmas celebrations and in a bid to improve civic infrastructure across the city, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav on Monday conducted an extensive inspection of several churches and adjoining residential localities, including Prem Nagar, Christian Colony, Dogra Hall, Bakshi Nagar, Gandhi Nagar and Valmiki Colony.During the visit, Dr. Yadav interacted with residents, community representatives, and church authorities to review the availability of civic amenities and identify ground-level concerns. Locals highlighted several long-pending issues such as damaged inner roads, clogged and overflowing drains, faulty streetlights, scattered garbage, sewer blockages, and poor upkeep of civic infrastructure.
Responding promptly, the Commissioner instructed the concerned JMC divisions to commence immediate repair, sanitation and restoration works. He assured that visible improvements—particularly in civil maintenance, cleanliness, and lighting—would be completed within the next month to ensure a cleaner and more vibrant environment ahead of Christmas on December 25.
“Ensuring equitable civic services across all neighbourhoods is our duty. Active public engagement and timely feedback help us uphold better standards of service delivery,” Dr. Yadav said, encouraging citizens to continue reporting grievances via JMC’s official platforms.
He also stressed on intensified sanitation drives, streamlined waste management, and improved lighting in public areas to enhance safety and hygiene during the festive period.
Joint Commissioner (Health & Sanitation) Abdul Sattar, Executive Engineer (Electric) Simarpal Singh, Executive Engineer Akhil Dutt, Chief Transport Officer Zone-I Ranjan Sharma, Chief Transport Officer Zone-II Dharamveer Singh and other senior officials were part of the inspection team.
