JAMMU: An anti-sabotage inspection of railway assets will be carried out by the Jammu and Kashmir police as part of a significant security stepped-up in advance of the Republic Day celebrations here. At a security review meeting held here this evening, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Railways Sunil Kumar issued these directives. A spokesman for the ADGP instructed all police to make sure that security devices and sniffer dogs are used to conduct anti-sabotage checks of railway stations, tracks and surrounding areas. He demanded that the overall security configuration of all the railway routes and stations in Jammu and Katra be strengthened. The ADGP obtained the required input from local General Railway Police personnel as well as a new security evaluation of the measures that had been taken. He emphasised that in order to quickly disseminate crucial and essential information, communication networks need to be expanded, made more active, and made more efficient. Upon concluding the discussions, the ADGP urged the officers to have close communication with other police wings and sister intelligence organisations in order to prevent any unfortunate incidents. The ADGP spoke with each participant and assessed the security measures implemented in their spheres of influence in light of the Republic Day celebrations and the regular and insightful information shared by various sister agencies about the threat posed by terrorists and anti-social elements.
